That’s strange-my isp has a log and they can view connectivity/strength of signal over 24 hours or longer if they are suspecting problems.

Yeah - but nearly everybody has access to the national copper wire infrastructure. It was a condition of privatisation that any service provider company who met suitable criteria could use the national infrastructure. Virgin's network is tiny compared with national network, and I doubt it services any area not serviced by the national infrastucture i.e. does not have a monopoly over its users.

I currently have a modem, I purchased, with a MIPS CPU, that one is total crap too. I was in a hurry and it was the only one available at that time. Now my ISP manages the updates, the firmware is filled with bugs, the webUI is too heavy and the CPU has poor cooling, so it easily overheats, crashes, or simply just refuse to do what I want it to do. Will replace it with something that actually works, once I have the time and energy to look for something better.

In UK, this can be difficult as some ISPs lock down routers with passwords that you cannot get access to. Usually hunting around web yu can find out required information, but ISPs are not always forthcoming more or less refusing to help until you use the big stick threat of going elsewhere.

Only problem so far was a loop installing defender updates. Fixed by the update troubleshooter.

This one took me a total of 28 minutes, but I did stop and make the ISO. Otherwise it would have taken the 22 minutes that it normally does.

Nice, fast and easy. No problems with this one.

Not really. This is a just a cheap little Haswell system with a regular SSD, nothing special. The 5 minutes might be an exaggeration, I don't think that it takes much longer than 3 minutes but I will time it next time.

Same here, about 5 Minutes. And, yes I do. Also, I create the ISOs on a separate internal 1TB spinner....so it's read "A", write "B", read "A", write "B", etc. "A" is a NMVe 951 SSD. Heads on spinner don't have to do much traveling around....just dump data.

Virgin Media's coverage in England is patchy to say the least. Fortunately I live in one of their areas.

OK, if that makes a difference then my read drive is my C: drive which is a separate SSD than my write drive, which is also an SSD. I did not know that made a difference but if it does I am using two separate SSDs for the creation of my ISOs, separate read and write drives.

I set up my system in a very complex manner but I use 4 separate SSDs for different functions on my system. It might seem convoluted, but it works for what I use my system for.
