    My missing DVD Drive.
josey, that’s what happened to me last few builds. This time when I rescanned for changes, the drives were separated from dvd/cds and then I rebooted and they were present as they should be.

Don't suppose that if you uninstall in Device Manager then try the Action tab and select 'Scan for hardware changes' would help?
I have done that and even did it in safe mode as well.

Reboot again and they will be gone. I have filed two reports to the hub on this, maybe someone will look at them..

Did you look in drive manager and see if it’s there but missing drive letter designation? I had to do this about 3 builds ago.

Mine is there, with right name in all right places but don't read disks, I know it works right because from W7 and Mint they read just fine.

In DM it is in the wrong place. MS thinks that it is a removable drive. New PC's come with DVD Drives it seems that MS thinks that everyone has a new $3,000 PC.

In 15063.608 it is where it is supposed to be

In the image below the red arrow shows where it is supposed to be.
The Green arrow shows where it is in 16296

It's in the wrong place as it sees the optical drive as a hard drive. No DVD/CD-ROM drives listed in Device Manager. I'd have a go with the system file checker a few times unless you've already done so.

The red is where it is supposed to be and has been
The Green is where it is in 16296.

I ran SFC numerous times..This is just another Bad Build for some PC's
