Updated, no hitch. I haven't done Disk cleanup from 291 yet but there is only one windows.old folder so old one was removed in the update process.

Great!
If Windows can automatically clean up and delete the original windows.old folder it does that and a new one will be created for preserving the current state of files before the actual upgrade is committed. I don't recall ever having something like Windows.old and Windows.old.old...or similar. :)
Not so. Windows.old is a very old feature of Windows - goes back to Windows XP if not earlier. I just clean it first thing. However as I have demonstrated if you have a smaller disk drive you may not be able to update until you remove programs/features which can be very tedious. One should have the option as to whether to create Windows.old in the first place. My last upgrade to the current Canary for rs3 16294.1 from 16288.1 had to clear around 24 GB of old windows installations. I just don't look back unless, like now, a branch (Skippy) is essentially dead.
