But they will continue releasing the "prerelease" builds of RS4 in Skip Ahead until October 17, then (as we all know) the Fast ring and Skip Ahead will merge and everything will return to normal, Fast ring, Release Preview and Slow and I repeat, as has always happened with these first builds, we should not expect new features for now.

Yeppers, and in my infinite wisdom (NOT), I have decided that it's more important for me to stick with the regular Fast Ring and get to RS4 after RS3 is RTM'd. :)

And what if you are a civilised Tea drinker - will it refuse to install - perhaps that is why I have had issurs on last few builds?
Have a M$ latte and it will correctly install inside of 20 minutes

Got mine done on the old Dell, including ISO, in 21/2 hours, about normal. All went smooth but tired right now from the 2:45 AM bed time.

No, no and no, it is alive now and later it will simply merge with the Fast Ring.

I completely disagree. The question is, what is better: to risk completely bricking your tablet because upgrade fails and can't restore the previous version due lacking Windows.old folder and then being forced to clean install, or to manage and maintain your tablet (using external SD card / USB) in such a way that there will be enough space to upgrade and create Windows.old?

Most of these tablets use some storage space for a factory recovery image. In my opinion it's better to remove this recovery partition and use that space for C: drive, then use Macrium to image the device to external target, than to not create Windows.old.

You can disagree as much as you like but you are making assumptions. I have deleted all but EFI and C drive, and I still struggle updating, as do many other tablet users (see linx tablet forum for example).

    I make Macrium images obviously.

Just because a feature has a risk, does not make it a bad idea, so long as user FULLY understands the risk. All users should have a recovery drive and backup data to an external drive anyway. If a user fails to make a recovery drive, then that is their own fault. Why should I be limited in options because other fail to follow instructions. All tablet manuals I have seen tell you to create a recovery drive.

Anyway, as I said a better solution would be to allow windows.old to be created on another drive. I do not see that as being a difficult solution. This is done in part as you can usb space for temporary storage.

This update took longer than most of the recent ones for me on my system. The last 7 or 8 preview builds took on average of 25 minutes to completely download and install, this one took closer to 35 minutes. That is a significant difference of almost 20% more time. I wonder what the cause of that was.

    So far so good though.
