Yes bro I have used this one quite some time ago and it was the suggested option when using Linux based systems and there used to have warnings about how you used this particular program as apparently (back then) you could do some serious damage to an OS - it could be much better/improved re that aspect now I suppose and I would stand to be corrected on what I said about serious damage.
Again to me at least it would appear that anything or a lot of programs call them what you will that are developed for use with Windows in whatever colour you are using are prime targets for malware and hacking.
There has been zero issues with CCleaner and that if there was a payload to push people towards a particular AV product, Avast has been doing it even more since they purchased Piriform.

There has been zero issues with CCleaner since 2004 and that was because of the Filehippo servers were placing a payload into the downloads that they were hosting.

If you do a websearch, you will find that people are stating to abandon CCleaner and go with an alternative, with Bleachbit being the best suggestion, because it has been around the block a few times and with it being Open Source, problems are fixed if there are any and that there is no raping of people's wallets for the product.

No mate I am staying with CC as I have used it for many years now just disappointed that things change hands like that and then go stupid for a bit.

Now as for File hippo I always download from the Piriform site as I don't like downloads from any mirror site for anything unless I really have to like as in no choice. Though I suppose technically it is the Avast site but I think you will know what I mean.

I think in general and for the most part computing for me has taken a trip up the Swanee because it has just got so tech involved even taking part in this forum I don't feel that I can say very much or feel that comfortable because everyone else seems to me to be light years ahead of anything that I know - mind you it is only a hobby for me I suppose.

    I'm with ICIT2LOL on this.

They used to be crafty and make the main download link for ccleaner go to File Hippo. Now they appear to host it themselves at http://download.piriform.com/ccsetup535.exe.

I used to use File Hippo a while ago until they changed from a file hosting site to a news site.

Morning, Nick. This direct link is a little cleaner (no pun intended). It will always get to the latest version, whereas yours will always go to 5.35. The link has been around for quite some time, and has their other links at bottom. (I hate FileHippo, too! Stupid glaring vids!)

Filehippo like CNET's download servers have been known to insert adware and malware. Always use something like Majorgeeks. The fact is that this new rumor of malware in only CCleaner, is just a rumor caused by AVAST when they purchased Piriform, so that the new software had AVast's terms and their branding.
