I'm still fighting with stupid thing where CD/DVD drives are not reading disks. It's placed in DM as "Disk drive" and removable. Changed drivers for chipset and GPU to every single one I had, changed 3 CD/DVD drives and still same thing. Had it once but lost on first update. Really don't know who or what to blame any more., AMD for interloping drivers or MS for windows and driver handling. BIOS is not in play as it works fine in W7 and Mint on same machine.
Inquired at Asus, AMD and MS but no answers worth mentioning, everybody is laying blame on others.
@CountMike
Does it somehow think it's associated with a USB port?
You can get the system to spill all it knows about all USB everything with this little goodie. Get it from MG: Download USBDeview - MajorGeeks

I am so bored with Skippy - it really has not set the world alight with anticipation.
I know we do not get much in way of new features early in a new build, but it would have been nice to see something eg timeline has been in development for months - it would have been nice to get early sight of that, even if buggy for example.
In the end, it has only been about seeing a few updated apps - notably photos with storey remix being main offering.
I think MS wasted an opportunity here to get early quality feedback and frankly when Skippy 2 comes out in early next year, I do not think I will bother with it.
I agree with you. For all I know we may never get a 17xxx build until after Oct 17th. I have a Hyper-V and VMware VM of 16296 and would be prepared to start the upgrade process from what seems to be the final official Microsoft Insider Advanced build of 16278 but we zero information coming from Dona or Shawn.
As soon as I'm sure I get RTM I'm going to do clean install, with all this experimenting with HW and drivers system got dirty. My last clean install was AU.
You asked why I posted what I posted, I explained it as well as I could. In my opinion, leaving a question directly addressed to me unanswered would be impolite.
A global community like TF with 100K+ members, each and every of us who have been here a bit longer have some members we dislike. I for instance know for sure that I am on quite a many ignore lists after correcting false information when the member in question does not tolerate being corrected, me having said something on a bad day they consider rude or various other reasons.
Some members choose another way to react to posts from members they dislike instead of ignore list, downplaying, depreciating and questioning the information given.
Whatever the reason, sometimes too much is too much. In this particular case, I felt offended when I posted something in my opinion quite relevant to topic of this thread, Insiders, Insider program and current affairs related to them, getting an almost instant and in my opinion rude reply "What does this have to do with us?". That reply clearly had one point only, and I reacted with the reply you then asked about.
Because the reply I got directly questioned the relevance about the information I had given in my post, I felt it important to compare the relevance of it to relevance of some posts of this member.
Extremely sincere,
Kari
