I think you in fact misread Slice's posts. He was in no way telling all Insiders should do that every time, he was just giving a pretty well thought workaround for a member who seems to be unable to upgrade.

The very next post of yours shows that maybe you should try those instructions yourself:Kari
Whilst I understand your support for a fellow countryman.....I did not misread his post, in fact I followed his instructions to the letter without success.
What is important is this rs3 is supposed to be RTM,d in a month....and by Updating for those already on rs2.

NO, this release/build is not to be RTMed. There are many builds to come still, and a lot of features to be added/finalized. Read the release notes if in doubt.

Do you have any error codes to share? Your issue could be something else compared to what I usually have. At what stage did the upgrade fail? During the desktop phase, first, second or third reboot? All this information helps better pinpoint the issue.

My posts and opinions stated in those had nothing to do with we being from the same, small country. Although openly admitting I have a weak spot regarding fellow Finns, myself living expat life and greatly missing Home (upper case H is not a typo), when it comes to IT and Windows I am a PC and Windows user first, my roots and origin playing no role.

I just can't understand it. Let me explain it with a an example, a hypothetical scenario:

A Member with an issue said:
I can't clean install Windows 10, I am completely unable to boot from DVD or USB.
Fellow member (a Finn or not a Finn!) offering assistance said:
You could try to boot to BIOS / UEFI settings and change the boot order there.
    An annoyed fellow member said:
Are you really saying that each and every Windows user should always first boot to BIOS / UEFI settings?
A fellow member offers assistance to someone not being able to do something. Other members take that as a global, general recommendation, something that every user should always do. Makes no sense.

Absolutely correct - at what point does MS have to accept the UUP system does not work reliably?

Sure us "geeks" can use all the tricks of the trade, but I do not see all my friends/family etc being able to sort all these issues.

It is not crystal ball gazing to predict that we will soon be swamped with posts saying upgrade has failed, and we will always respond download iso, double click on it and run setup.exe which will work because it has the tried, tested and trusted install.esd file.

I expect the issue is MS promised this with a public fanfare, and do not want to lose face. Better that than being a laughing stock.

Of course, if this is once again one of those ridiculous "A real Insider does not use any workarounds, it's against the spirit of Insider Program" issues some members have posted, then of course in case the upgrade fails you just forget this build and wait the next build, not trying any workarounds to get it.Kari
Your above trite comment referring to my post is somewhat insulting.....you haven't got a clue as to what I try to do to obviate any problems encountered.....whilst I respect how knowledgeable you are, you do need to put your axe away now and then.

    What?

Read my post in question again, especially those four words I have highlighted in below quote:

I did not speak about you nor did I refer to you.

Of course he nor anybody else does NOT know what lengths you have taken to solve the issue, if you don't share the information. We are no spies, telepathic nor do we have crystal balls, so there is no way we can know this information unless you share it with us. :)

C'mon, Rocky. Slice is one of our more knowledgeable members and his advice is sound. I didn't see anything to make me think he was trying to help the whole world; only Recruit and later, Dencal.

I had over 1000 up votes in the Hub when I was still in the program. This morning I have officially dropped out. The program is being restructured anyway and my machine just will not work on nor did it ever work properly on any RS3 build. It was fun while it lasted but I was running against the wind.
