my 2cents = the people the Russian government is interested in spying on, don't buy their AV at BestBuy. They would be Defense Contractors and DOD employees, who have all their security measures mandated by law, and furnished to them by their employer.

Note some UK banks (e.g. Barclays) offer their customers a free licence to use Kaspersky Internet Security. I would hope Barclays has considered the security implications of their offer?

I was leery of Kaspersky because of his Russian government connection and his past in the hacking world. For that reason I passed on it several years ago and went with ESET.

I don't think the question is where the software was bought, but with the software itself, boxed or downloaded.

ESET is an IT security company that offers anti-virus and firewall products such as ESET NOD32. It was founded in 1992. ESET is headquartered in Bratislava, Slovakia,

Yeah, and..........? I have found no connections to the Russian government in its history, or even allegations. I have read nothing about it that says it was set up and created by a known hacker. Matter of fact, everything I have found and read says the company is about as above board as any US based company. Considering McAfee's checkered past, I'd say more above board.

"Matter of fact, everything I have found and read says the company is about as above board as any US based company."

Those same above board US companies that poison your water and food, throw you out in the street, coupled with the capricious actions of a health insurance industry that move the goal posts nightly to deny you health care that you paid for in good faith.

McAfee hasn't had anything to do with the AV that carries his name for many years, Intel owns it.
