I have been gone from TenForums for 2 years. I had forgotten about the pedantic hair-splitting that can go on.

Those same above board US companies that poison your water and food, throw you out in the street, coupled with the capricious actions of a health insurance industry that move the goal posts nightly to deny you health care that you paid for in good faith.
I thought we were talking anti-virus programs and trustworthiness, not the general status of mankind, Greenpeace diatribes and the business tactics of an industry that has nothing to do with security programs outside of using them on their employee PCs.

I would use Kaspersky over any AV that came out of Oz.

Note some UK banks (e.g. Barclays) offer their customers a free licence to use Kaspersky Internet Security. I would hope Barclays has considered the security implications of their offer?
I hope they will continue to do so and not get swayed by this partisan hysteria. The only reason why this is being brought up about Kaspersky is because they're outside the control of the NSA and other Western security agencies, who have a history of seeking backdoors and the whitelisting of their own malware in security products that they can intimidate.

I'm more worried by the backdoors that my government seeks in such products than that done by the Russian government, who don't directly affect me. Still, let the silly "reds under the beds" hysterical distraction continue.

I'm still none the wiser whether Kaspersky anti-virus is 'safe' to use from this and other threads.

I continue to use Kaspersky software since I have a free licence and it has some useful features. I've also enabled Windows Defender Periodic Scanning as a further safeguard and do monthly scans with AdwCleaner and Malwarebytes (free version).

I've had no known problems to date unless the US software I'm using has missed the Russian backdoors!

Shouldn't we install, at least one anti-virus from every country on our systems, so the PC Social Justice Warriors Buttheads don't get triggered?

I suspect there is more than a helping of fake news in all this paranoia.

Must be a Russian agent trying to get us all to ignore it and install Kaspersky

Kaspersky you say? I decided to stay in the Kempinski.

    Nice hotel.

Full of Russians (but they all are).
