There will forevermore be an ongoing debate on whether to turn off the computer or leave it running at night. :)

Some say turning it off and on ain't good fer it, and some say leaving it on ain't good fer it. For me, the amount of electricity used is key. So, as I said before, turning mine off at night is economical for me.
Switching electronic components on does put an extra strain on them. Whether it is sufficient to make much difference these days is doubtful.

I built this PC 8 years ago and it is still running very well except for any RS3 build. The electric company here makes enough money.

    From your specs:

Boot bootime in your case isn't even an issue, and the positive with a total shut down, and cold boot, is; your PendingFileRenameOperations get done, and that... ads to system stability, because and changes that cannot be made because a file is in use by Windows, can get done by a proper shut down(but only when Fast Startup in you Power settings is turned off, and Windows can do a cold boot, without skipping diver initialization and services, and parts of the kernel, that are saved to a hibefil.

In other words, if a driver or kernel file, or a service file needs to be updated, it can be(including clones of software drivers, services in the WinSxS folder).
I think I got into the habit of leaving the computer on when it used to take 1 minute and 35 seconds to start up - I have 0 patience. The desktop does move along rather quickly. In the interest of harmony, the environment, my wallet, and all things sacred to Insiders, I shall shut it down every night and live in peace with nature.

So far I haven't been able to get a definitive result [out of many found] about whether they are Malware, Spyware or password stealing infections.
Kinda what I discovered when I looked for 'em, Berton. That's why I didn't leave you any links.

I have not done a clean install in a long time, is there anyone here willing to share a nice home rolled ISO?

    Thanks in advance,

Personally, in all my OSes, I've assigned F11 to a Sleep keyboard shortcut, and as soon as I will get up from my desk chair, F11 I press and my desktop computer goes to Sleep. I will never purchase a laptop, if my company will impose one to me, that will be their issue. At night, or when being away from my desk for more than one hour, I fully shut down by pressing the Power button on my chassis. My reboot time is, and has always been, approx. 30 seconds in Win 10 Pro. In KDE Neon it must be even faster.

I like to keep the electric bill down as much as possible also and put my lappy in Hibernate
every night. Also turn off power to the charger so its on battery only.

    Hi all,

Install took about an hour to finish. No glitches during the update process.
This looks like another solid build. Looking forward to Oct. 17th....

    Cheers,

Hibernation--I have 24gB of Ram so it will use 24GB of space on my PC's SSD Boot Drive. I do not want to waste that space and since I do a Daily Image with MR it would be adding to that time.
Sleep- Uses Ram which I have plenty of
Off/ON. When you put power on to a say a radio the copper tends to get a tad hotter when it is on so it will expand a tad. When you shut it off it will contract. This created a real hazard when aluminum wiring was used to wire houses the constant on/off expand/contract tended to create gaps in connections and many a house burned down due to that problem. This is not a problem in a PC.

Fans are quite cheap so as explained in The Video I would choose to shutdown in lieu of leaving it on.
Now if I had Orange hair and had a 2TB SSD boot drive I would choose Hibernation but since I do not and only have a 236gB SSD i will not waste that space.

Now since I cannot place my PC in sleep mode in any of the RS3 drives maybe this is not a problem but is by design. MS may want you to turn off your device. I do not know.

BTW: My Professor's House burnt to the ground due to Aluminum wiring.
