I checked if there were any more updates, got a couple and now have 16299.19 showing. I used the Update Assistant method to install FCU. Just need to faff around for a while changing some settings to suit my eyesight. It didn't re-install the unwanted Store apps and kept Privacy settings the same.

One machine updated fine, all on the surface seems ok. Our second machine which is an old BRIX box hooked up to the living room tv for basic usage is struggling. It found the update, downloaded it and prepared but at the end 100% there is no option to restart. So I checked again and the next occasion it found the update, downloaded for ages and prepared before eventually saying there was a problem and to retry later, I retried and the whole saga began again, at the end it said it couldn’t install because windows was busy installing other updates. Am now trying again and waiting for downloading (which has been stuck 92% for a good while now) but not looking good for this pc.

If you're finding yourself in such a mess, then do a clean format install. I always do this when a major release comes out. Saves me pulling my hair out.

If i format & delete system partitions & windows partition to install windows... Will it affect other data partitions?? I have loads of important data in it.... I messed up d system reserved partition & accidentally converted into ntfs..now windows doesn't allow me to clean install unless i reformat system partition as fat32. Will d above method which i told u will work???
