    Hi,

Ok, but that's not what I meant at all. Nobody's forced to use One Drive or any cloud service for that matter.
But if you did you then had a copy of it's content forced on an internal drive/partition. Might as well have stored yourself on an external device.

The latest version of One Drive now only stores the place holders instead of the full files. Much better and you can still stores the original files wherever you see fit.

    Cheers,

It is not being negative it is factual. I do not use One Drive on The CU , why would I use it on The FCU. I do not own any Tablet. I have no use for Mixed Reality and I do not use a Smartphone. The latest Build 16299 will not even come out of sleep mode without a restart. The AU is good till 2023, the CU will be good way past that. If the final release of the FCU works properly on my PC I may use it . I will not turn off and on my PC every time I leave it. Life is full of choices and we all are free to choose what we use. Clear?
Well, maybe the next or final build will address the issue of having to turn off/on your pc with each use. There are many apps and enhancements that I don’t use but some people do use them and that’s good enough for me. I do use onedrive and a tablet and a smartphone and they all talk to one another—thank God. But lots of people don’t use those. I like the fact that I can use what I want to use and leave the remainder alone. And that’s not bad or good—it Just is!

That's not the published info from Microsoft (unless you have one of those Clover Trail processors which can't get past 1607, in which case Microsoft said there will be security updates up to 2023 "for these specific devices"). It's not clear how this would work, or whether any other devices could get 1607 updates or whether it means an extension for CU support.

But for everyone else, it's "tentatively" March 2018 end date for AU and Sept 2018 for CU.
So AU and CU could both be out of support in less than a year's time. (And 1511 dies next week!)

    From here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...cle-fact-sheet

Desktop operating systems Date of availability End of support
    Windows 10 version 1507 ** July 29, 2015 May 9, 2017
    Windows 10 version 1511 ** November 10, 2015 October 10, 2017
    Windows 10 version 1607 ** August 2, 2016 Tentatively March 2018
    Windows 10 version 1703 ** April 5, 2017 Tentatively September 2018
** Applies to Windows 10 Home, Pro, Education and Enterprise editions. Windows 10 Mobile and Mobile Enterprise editions have no extended support period. All Windows 10 editions are managed via the Windows as a Service (WaaS) model: Updates are cumulative, with each update built upon all of the updates that preceded it. A device needs to install the latest update to remain supported. Updates may include new features, fixes (security and/or non-security), or a combination of both. Not all features in an update will work on all devices. A device may not be able to receive updates if the device hardware is incompatible, lacking current drivers, or otherwise outside of the Original Equipment Manufacturer’s (“OEM”) support period... etc, etc...

Thanks for the links. Install via Upgrade route and went smoothly. Very little fiddling with Settings required and all installed programs working that I've opened, as well as Windows settings. Like the new reading feature in Edge and see that Hibernation is no longer available so I can use Fast Startup again. Cheers
