But ya gotta admit they're not intrusive . . . they just kinda happen without any fanfare or bugs for the most part.

Question: Why is it that I never see any Office update through the regular windows update channel? I always have to open up Office and manually update it. I've check all my settings....and they're set to update along with non Microsoft products. So what am I missing?

Most likely because you haven't checked the box on this page, Plankton:

Office 2016 and Office 365 Current Channel v1707 build 8326.2096-microsoft-updates.png

Go to Settings>Update & Security>Advanced Updates to get to the page.

Nothing, Office 2016/365 has it's own update program outside of Windows.

True, OilerNut, but look at my post just above yours.

I have that option enabled, never got an Office 365/2016 update that way. Silverlight, Office 2010/2013, yes.

Hmmmmm, I've always had it off by default, so no real experience with it.

Sometimes O365 updates while I'm not looking and sometimes I have to go in and manually update.

Also, I'm on the Insider Slow Ring of O365, which is different than here.

Like I said....all that is checked. I'm on the regular Creator's Update....no slow/fast ring builds at all. Oddly enough, when I checked it, it was running the latest build and I can't remember what the previous build was that I was showing.
