My problem is that the update fails on the host. Of course I take into account how big my user profile and other installations are. The bigger installation size the slower the upgrade. On VM I have nothing installed.

    What I did now:
    1. Did disk cleanup (full)
    2. deleted all WU files in software distribution
    3. disabled nVidia GPU completely
    4. disabled AV completely
    5. disabled startup items completely
    6. disabled all non-MS services
    7. ran sfc /scannow

Now I got to the Reboot part. Hope I get this thing upgraded and finalized now. :)
After doing all the above procedures, I got system upgraded to 16273.1000 RS3_Release successfully. Took about an hour going from old Desktop to upgraded Desktop. Time taken match my VM upgrade times pretty good. :)

    HAH!!!

I can surf the web using Edge again. Wonder how long that pleasure will last, until it turns into a nightmare again!?

UPDATE: It was no joke that Edge context menu issues has been fixed. Works like a charm now.

Unfortunately, I seem to be stuck in an endless reboot loop. It tells me that it couldn't install, then it gives me a "Critical Service Failed" GSOD, and when I use my Win8 thumb drive to access a recovery console (and yes, I am aware it's a different version, but it's the only recovery console I have access to), it won't let me roll back to the previous version. I really don't want to have to do a reset because I don't have all of the programs to reinstall. Right now I am trying to find a 16273 ISO so I can upgrade that way. If that doesn't work, can I use an earlier version to get me sorta back to where I was before?
Hi there, cubdukat. Welcome to Windows TenForums.

Here’s a rescue disk and other help created by a member named Kyhi that might help you.

Making an ISO failed for me, so I can’t help there. I’m quite sure someone else will offer one. Which edition do you need?

My laptop originally came with Windows 8. I upgraded it to Window 8.1 then Windows 10. After upgrading it the laptop always seemed to under powered and slow that I stopped using it.
With the Inspiron I got a huge jump in speed doing a clean install from Vista to 7, skipped the 8's and went onto 10 Insiders. Most time consuming was finding the latest or most usable drivers for 10. I replaced the 10 yr. old memory and HDD's but gained little there, it was just done due to concern over failure. An expensive SSD would have really kicked things up a notch. My GPU has had some issues and replacing that today along with the CPU since I'm going to be deep into the old lappy and old parts are cheap.

We are close to RTM, and Edge will be stable 'till they start to add features again :)

Edge has never been stable for me. This is the second time since Edge was introduced, that it actually works decently.

Sorry to hear that. I'm using it as my main browser in CU since Spring. Behaves very well, including some basic extensions

Interesting. Edge has not been stable on any hardware I have tried it on. That is tens of different clean installed systems and VMs on many very different hardware configurations. All same problems remain on all of them. :/
