The White exclamation mark on Red disk equates to the Windows Defender warning that the Windows Update settings need attention.
First I knew something was happening was the warning sign on Defender in the notification area,

Clicking on that got me here,

and 'open settings' took me to windows update with the exclamation mark. On 88% installing now.

Mine updated quick. 25 minutes from start to restart screen. Another 20 minutes to completed boot. That's approximately a half hour quicker than usual. Only failure was making an ISO with UUPtoISO. Never failed before.

Just a wild guess, but maybe the general speedup we're all seeing is the result of what they (MS) were trying to do that caused all of their self-host crashes and roll-backs. They maybe were re-engineering the whole UUP scenario and hit a ton of bugs. Then finally got it and released.

Old 32 bit machine failed on it's first attempt. It took 31/2 hours but half of it's hardware is 10 years old (being upgraded tomorrow).
I think some phone line/DSL problem may have gotten both of my downloads.
On second try the old 32 bit machine did it. Yippy! This time it took 3 hrs 10 minutes including ISO.

The Windows 10S installer is interesting.

A few day ago, I clean installed 10S on a vm that was activated with PRO but it did not activate. I tried to use the troubleshooter and it pointed to a 10 PRO digital licence, but selecting that upgraded it to PRO (which did activate.

So it seems only way to install 10S and activate it is to be running PRO, and use this installer - it is interesting that it does a clean install even though you have PRO installed. I wonder if it is a real clean install as we know them.

I wonder if you get a new digital licence so you can later clean install via iso if necessary?

    Tomorrows Task.

I have to say, I am a little underwhelmed by this new build - I expected o see a few gems still. I get the impression MS have decided to curtail development a bit earlier than on previous builds. They do say they are focussing more on making RS3 stable, and this is obvious from this release.

I just have a gut feeling from the tone of words, we will not gain much being on rs_prelease anyway - no leaps and bounds yet for the skippy version .
I'm thinking that MS is finally in the fix-it mode and new features will come later. I have a small laptop that I've been wanting to try Win 10S on. 10S may just be what it needs to bring life back to it.

Can't prove it by me. My computer started installing at 9:13pm and it's now 9:57pm and it's at 62%. The download was fast.

Probably good they do fix the already deployed features before bringing in the new. Compounding errors would be bad for all. Reading all that has been fixed on this build, the worker bees have been busy.

I thought about my old Dell Inspiron running on 10S and it's not a bad idea at all. It's getting by quite well on 10 Pro but 10S would be easier on it. I need to upgrade the wife's Dell Vista machine and she just may get 10S. She uses Android tablets for most things but thinks she deserves an upgraded Windows machine also, lol!
