Fx 57 is still in Alpha stage, it still has to go through the BETA process and I am sure that many bugs will be fix by the time it goes to release.
yes I know but it's been announced the GUI customizations won't return & the xul addons that kept me using firefox as main browser are RIP soon .... the browser that was firefox dies in November (on life support as esr for a while) & a new browser rises .... not interested in new path Mozilla has chosen & fear they've leapt in wrong direction.
Palemoon I will keep installed & should it develop into a fork of the current firfox esr that might win me over ... BUT a lot of the addons will die with the switch to 57+ so less than ideal for me!

I use Pale Moon as my main browser. So far all my add-ons work except one. I have Firefox 57 Nightly installed and even with the config trick most of my add-ons not only don't work but are not being updated so they will never work. I do understand the reasoning for the change but I don't like it. I have been testing different browsers but I still prefer Pale Moon with my add-ons. :)

I will use Firefox ESR until June 2018 when I hope to solutions to any extension problems will be solved, and I can go back to "regular" FF.

The new Waterfox is awesome. It uses the Firefox add-ons and runs faster and better with no telemetry.

But you are using it on Windows 10 which has plenty of it. In Firefox you can turn it off.

No telemetry is just one of the advantages Waterfox has over Firefox.

    Good to know.

I do like Waterfox, especially since I'll be able to keep using my add-ons and get the Firefox like updates. IMHO it's a nice browser.

@barky: The advantage of the removal of xul, is that it will speed up Firefox a whole lot, plus make Fx safer too.

Firefox Developer is a nice 'middle ground' for now.
Not quite Nightly but advanced enough to be interesting; extensions remain intact, and a nice basket of 'tools' to play with!
