Tab loading gets a bit faster...

Nightly 59.0a1 (2018-01-12) adds a new feature dubbed "Tab Warming"
Nightly will start loading a link in the background as soon as you hover your mouse cursor over that link so that when you click the link, the tab will load faster.
The feature is disabled by default, however, if you want to try it, set the browser.tabs.remote.warmup.enabled entry in about:config to true.

Been peeping in on this thread now and then. Looks to me like FF is losing the fight. So far anyway. But you know me, the old fanboy, so I tend to be just a little partial, but on the other had facts are facts.

Below quote is from: Microsoft Edge is safer

According to NSS Labs. Microsoft Edge blocks more phishing sites and socially engineered malware than Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
See details and scroll down to get a copy of the report here: Download NSS Labs 2017 Web Browser Security Comparative Reports from Official Microsoft Download Center

Faster too: Microsoft Edge is faster

Details on speed here: Browser performance comparison - JavaScript Benchmarks

BTW, Edge now has plenty of extensions too. Just some food for thought is all.

Have a good day and happy, safe surfing. :)

Well, that's almost a year old article using Firefox 52.
Firefox is going trough a engine change and Firefox Quantum v.57 was the first iteration which improved the speed.

Still not as fast as Edge or Chrome but if you want more customization and privacy then Firefox is a nice choice.

Funny how MS tests show that Edge is better than all other browsers.

Most other testers claim Chrome is the best.

I see you use Pale Moon. Everyone has a choice, of course. I was just presenting some facts is all.

    First up at bat:

We ran the following benchmarks on a MacBook Pro 15, with an Intel Core i7 processor and 512GB SSD.
Everyone here uses a Mac I’m sure.

Do you think he/they may be a little partial? Hollywood/Bollywood-type hype. Just as a lot of things in this world, what is popular isn’t necessarily the best. I'm going to take advice from some unknown author on an ad-heavy-laden tech mag site that shoves an ad in my face straightway without at least having the courtesy of muting the sound or an option to play the video? Don’t think so.

Where is the specific testing platform besides the Mac specs? Did they perform it with Google’s own Octane 2.0. How about Apple’s Jetstream 1.1? Let’s at least show some facts and let’s compare apples with apples here. Microsoft, Inc, as an American corporation, cannot publish false documentation whereas a tech mag can publish “fake news”.

Let’s forget features and speed for a moment and think about safety, which most would think is most important. Where’s the test results from independent labs specializing in safety that MS posted? How’s Chrome, FF, and others doing with attacks? And this, which is the current stressing issue:

Given that Edge isn't built for Mac OS X, they must have been using Parallels or some sort of Windows VM.

That was the most recent test that appeared on the Google SRP, when I searched.

I normally see tests on ZDNet or TechRepublic, but the last tests I saw there were from nearly 12 months ago.
I knew if I posted links to those, some whiner would complain, "those tests are from months ago".

Microsoft, Inc, as an American corporation, cannot publish false documentation whereas a tech mag can publish “fake news”.
MS can publish whatever they want, just like Pharmaceutical companies and car makers.
It's only a crime if someone successfully sues them.

MS deliberately altered their own standard code to trick people into installing W10.

Pharmaceutical companies have been repeatedly sued for publishing false documentation.
