I only have two. uBlock dev and open tabs next to current. Surfing without uBlock is a nono, so i take my chances.

They probably mean this:
See that large list of unknown extensions? Those are the embeeded extensions, some are telemetry, others are used to control what settings to enable for X or Y version of Firefox... of course, below, you will find the only extension I ever use... Ublock...

Nightly (2017-08-31) has a new about:config setting: Open bookmarks in a new tab:
Toggle browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInTabs to True.
(You can still use middleclick for the same affect)

UBlockO does not work with the latest version of Firefox, The amount of adverts i see now is amazing.
I've started using Chrome with UblockO till Mozilla get their act together.
Another option of course, and one I was very pleasantly surprised with was Opera, which has ad blocking built into its core, and seemed every bit as good as Chrome (which it is based on) and UblockO.

Go to Firefox's extensions page in Addons, uninstall the problematic extension, then go to Mozilla's addons site (Get Add-ons) and reinstall it. Some extensions have made hybrid extensions or gone over the the new WebExtension way, but might still pose problems in the settings conversion process.
Firefox's changes have made me switch browsers to Vivaldi, which I've been using as a secondary browser since it came about, and it has improved enough to be my default. The devs actually listen, too.
I have been a loyal Firefox user since Phoenix 0.5, but it's gone to pot with all these changes. I put up with a lot of these changes, but this willingness to neuter the extensions system, the last powerful feature left in the browser, was the final straw. I'm sad to to this, but I have to move on. I'll keep Firefox on my system, but it's now a secondary browser.
