I have many, many third party programs installed--I prefer the ones I run most as shortcuts on the desktop, so that I don't have to hunt and peck for them when I want to run them. It's a habit I started in the 80's with my Amigas. BTW, the desktop is still booting in record time. Microsoft is getting it right with these last two builds, imo.

Yes, exactly...see, I don't have to push the Windows button to call up the start screen. I've simply bypassed it. I'm heartened at all of the experts here who think they know how other people's desktop screens should look. Not that it bothers me in the slightest what you think, since I published the screen shot to comment on the boot-to-desktop-time in the latest build *cough*--but since you have, what is the purpose of having to push the Windows start key--since you know that is what you are going to do, anyway? I mean, if you think just sitting in front of your computer looking at a scenic montage and doing nothing else with it is OK, for hours upon hours, I guess I can understand that.. and it's OK by me. It's just that I am 100% functional--don't want to have to hit a key to get to my programs--just like going straight in. Yes, I now know what other people prefer--but I prefer something else. Variety--it's the spice of life--people should try it sometime. These threads are demonstrably deteriorating--it's almost as if everything except the latest build is being discussed.

Try a Reset of the Photos App and maybe the Store.

Or even uninstall them and reinstall them.

Ok, so you’re addressing everyone that posted on the subject matter, but why single out my post to get your point across? Why not just a post to address everyone? No skin off my nose if you had multiple screens filled with icons. Really none of my business how you want to navigate.

I’m sure you can see my post wasn’t singling you out to answer to. In fact, it was Cliff’s post I quoted to, more or less, play “top dog” all in fun. Also to simply post how I do things.

BTW, while we’re on the subject, I push the WinKey (instant if in tablet mode) not only to get to my apps, but also get a quick glance at live tiles that give me a wealth of information. Temperature/weather, local/other cities time, reminder of my Bible verse of the day, email topic & sender, stock market condition, others, and last, but not least, how many sleeps ‘til Christmas. I can’t get that out of a montage of dead icons.
