I'm almost convinced that it's just that they noticed that changing one value in registry would keep it open to anyone willing to do it, so they decided what the heck let people Skip ahead officially.
I agree with you. They say they have several million Insiders, plenty to go around for each option.

I have rs Pro, rs Pro N, and rs3 Pro installs waiting for a "new pair of shoes" - maybe size 16265 - roll them bones baby, roll them bones. -

In my other computer Skip ahead works too but I keep it on Active just to see difference.

Why so many Icons? I have 3 icons on the desktop.
I have many, many third party programs installed--I prefer the ones I run most as shortcuts on the desktop, so that I don't have to hunt and peck for them when I want to run them. It's a habit I started in the 80's with my Amigas. BTW, the desktop is still booting in record time. Microsoft is getting it right with these last two builds, imo.

Actually the above captions should read, in this order, Experts, n00bs... There, fixed it for you. (BTW, I don't do repeat shortcuts, either.) I have maybe 500 3rd-party programs and games, installed. For me, an OSes highest and best value is in how well it supports the third-party software and hardware I wish to buy.

No. This is how it's done. No taskbar either.

Push the Windows key and use the Start screen. :)

Yes, exactly...see, I don't have to push the Windows button to call up the start screen. I've simply bypassed it. I'm heartened at all of the experts here who think they know how other people's desktop screens should look. Not that it bothers me in the slightest what you think, since I published the screen shot to comment on the boot-to-desktop-time in the latest build *cough*--but since you have, what is the purpose of having to push the Windows start key--since you know that is what you are going to do, anyway? I mean, if you think just sitting in front of your computer looking at a scenic montage and doing nothing else with it is OK, for hours upon hours, I guess I can understand that.. and it's OK by me. It's just that I am 100% functional--don't want to have to hit a key to get to my programs--just like going straight in. Yes, I now know what other people prefer--but I prefer something else. Variety--it's the spice of life--people should try it sometime. These threads are demonstrably deteriorating--it's almost as if everything except the latest build is being discussed.

"Hot town, summer in the city, back of my neck gettin' dirty an' gritty," indeed... I can see it's a hot, long, and boring summer for some--and not just you, Hippsie--not pickin' only on you...

No, I'm talking about Skip Ahead, I don't have any of those options, trim videos in S.Remix, search box or suggestion banners and I have the latest version of Photos app.
Try a Reset of the Photos App and maybe the Store.

Or even uninstall them and reinstall them.

I already tried that, I uninstalled and re-installed the app but it is still the same, I read in other forums in English and Spanish that a few people have different problems with the Photos app.

In another comment I had said that I would do a clean installation in another SSD, well, in that installation the option to trim the video is there!:)

Thanks to everyone for your replies

Ok, so you’re addressing everyone that posted on the subject matter, but why single out my post to get your point across? Why not just a post to address everyone? No skin off my nose if you had multiple screens filled with icons. Really none of my business how you want to navigate.

I’m sure you can see my post wasn’t singling you out to answer to. In fact, it was Cliff’s post I quoted to, more or less, play “top dog” all in fun. Also to simply post how I do things.

BTW, while we’re on the subject, I push the WinKey (instant if in tablet mode) not only to get to my apps, but also get a quick glance at live tiles that give me a wealth of information. Temperature/weather, local/other cities time, reminder of my Bible verse of the day, email topic & sender, stock market condition, others, and last, but not least, how many sleeps ‘til Christmas. I can’t get that out of a montage of dead icons.

No, the shared VMCZ file contains everything, even checkpoints if they exist. It's just that sharing really takes time; when you think it's done, when the progress bar shows ready, it still continues saving on the background. No way to tell it's ready other than refresh target folder every now and then, when ready a refresh finally shows the real file size jumping suddenly from a few hundred megs to several gigs.

In my experiments compression seems to be quite exactly 1:2, the example in my screenshot is 17.3 GB VHDX which when shared makes just under 9 GB VMCZ file.

Anyway, I left feedback now, please upvote if it behaves the same way for you: Feedback Hub - Windows Insider
My vmcz file is less than 2GB!
