until that time will retain the rs_prerelease reference.
That's true, but that does not mean that those builds do not belong to RS4 and will not prevent most people (including insider team members) from calling them RS4.

Apparently you have not understood me, read this comment carefully: Announcing Windows 10 Insider Fast Build 16257 PC + 15237 Mobile

I agree that the current build of rs_prerelease should not be called RS4, because that build still belongs to RS3, when Microsoft releases some build of the next branch, which could be 17001 or something like that, that build will belong to RS4 and can be called RS4.

    Y
ou should also carefully read the tweets I put in this comment: Announcing Windows 10 Insider Fast Build 16257 PC + 15237 Mobile they talk about the builds of the next branch (17001 or something like that) not the current build.
I get where you are coming from and I agree with you that the next branch numbering will change to 17XXX. I have read the tweets they were included in your quote as Attachments.

You will see when a Skip Ahead build 17XXX is released that the registry reference will still be rs_prerelease and not rs4_release. Therefore to me is should not be called RS4. Until that time comes we will just have to disagree.

In addition, some parts that don't quite make it for public release will probably stay as part of next build, already happened few times.

Well they don't belong to RS4. They belong to rs_prerelease. You are correct some perhaps most will call them RS4 and they will be incorrect. Like I said before everyone is entitled to their opinion and that includes calling it by the wrong name.

I am going to stick to whatever the Windows 10 registry calls it and currently that is rs_prerelease.

Well, if insider team members like Dona Sarkar and Brandon Leblanc in the future call them RS4, I think that for others it is not so "wrong" or "incorrect" to do the same:

In the Skip Ahead builds, regardless what you or Dona choose to call them we still have and will have going forward until Spring of 2018.

As a retired Training Officer for the local Dept. of Correction, I'm going to train all of you in the correct name of the the "now called" rs_prelease build - it is called Gus and will be called Gus until I say differently. Please carry on.
