Let's keep this discussion friendly and positive shall we.

I just got back from vacation, all, and I'm here to tell you that Mars Station is beautiful this time of year--you need tickets--let me know and I'll rustle up a couple for you and the entire family (if you got 'em! Seats are going from $7985 right now but I have no idea when they'll bump back to $10k! So don't delay!) But we had a dome accident wouldn't you know--meteorite pierced the main dome--one got by orbiting laser defense which usually nails'em long before they can hit. They said this particle was really small but moving really fast--but fortunately, no one was hurt badly! One lady got a sprained ankle when her FamCo aeroscooter slipped away from her at impact, as it startled her--no kidding! I fell out of my chair in my room on the sunward spire of Mt. Olympus when it hit! BooooMMM! --Dome is pressurized to 1.1 Earth atmospheres so it made a terrific din on my side of the plastisteel. Anyway, I know it's boring info, but the patching droids took care of it in 'one minute and thirteen seconds'! according to Mars @ 'Nite on channel 12 in Olympic City! A record--they said...anyway, glad to be back Earthside!

    Brink, my favorite alien!
--been anywhere worth talking about lately? Gannymeade? Orion's Garter, maybe? Anything interesting out by Hilda's Hips?

Sooo...looks like from the above exchange that ...I missed it, all the excitement--what happened? High drama! [just kidding...] It's not hard to figure out, but it's also not that big a deal, either...It's summer, it's hot, and it's...

"Sumer-time in the city, back of my neck gettin' dirty and gritty..."

Who remembers that little tune...? Heh... "Pressed between the pages of my mind"...agggghhh--must be that Martian punch. It's not "spiked"--they call it "festooned" out there! Head is still celebrating and searching for my neck...!

....Anyway...16257 is really really nice. I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed the absolutely incredibly more rapid booting to the desktop? Booting is very nice, now...if like me you have a somewhat crowded desktop (with dozens of shortcuts plastered on in an inscrutable pattern.) I boot to a lock screen--it's a habit I developed a long time ago--and it's simply become a habit--did I say that already? I boot to the lock screen--hit the enter key and then enter my password, hit the enter key again and the lock screen hands off to the desktop screen.

OK, in all previous builds before now, after hitting Enter for the second time on my lock screen to go to the desktop, there would usually be a small wait of a few seconds ( defined by a spinning dot cursor), and then the desktop background would load with mostly placeholders for my desktop shortcuts showing. After that, the placeholders would fill in slowly until all of my shortcuts were displayed properly. I say "slowly" but it would generally take from 5 seconds to maybe 20 seconds for all of my dozens of shortcuts to go from placeholder display (solid white squares) to display the actual shortcut icon.

But...with this new build 16257 what happens is very nice--it's noticeable, and it happens every time, now, so that I know it's not simply a fluke or one-off. After hitting the enter key the second time from my lock screen to go to my desktop screen, the desktop screen loads *instantly* with all shortcuts displayed and intact! Instantly! It's so much better/faster, now... Don't know what they did of course, except that they mention it as an improvement for PC and I have to agree. I would guess they've managed to build in a really nice caching routine for the desktop that stores and recalls desktop display info much more efficiently than it did in the past--and it certainly shows. Bear in mind that I always turn Superfetch off, along with setting it off in the registry as well, so these improvements are certainly not related to that function. Could be, too, something they are doing related specifically to SSD's used for booting--and if so, I say it's about time. Anyway, I included a screenie of my desktop so you could see what now loads up instantly--no more placeholders and delays! Looks like the builds are shaping up nicely!

    Anyone else see something similar?

Doesn't work, Edwin. It's blocked by Warner Chappell on copyright grounds.

I was wondering the same....though that is nothing compared to my friend with QFHD display and the Desktop completely filled with icons. I don't get it...how is it even possible to have that many icons there and still find something useful to click on!? :)

I have only recycle bin on my desktop. All other app shortcuts I put in the Start Menu, including links for Portable Apps. I even removed all the pinned apps from task bar, leaving me with Cortana and TaskView icons. :)

    Nice and clean:

Same here. I simply do not like desktop full of shortcuts, I prefer Start menu and Start tiles.
