Anybody else seeing that Windows Defender Security Center is showing that Virus and Threat Protection is unknown and not showing with a green check mark.

I found the solution to the problem of Virus and Threat Protection showing as Unknown and without the green check mark. I use SRP, Software Restriction Policy on all my Windows 10 Pro version machines and when installing Insider builds I turn off the restriction policies but leave the additional rules settings in place. In previous builds this has not been a problem. In 16257 something changed in how Defender works and leaving the additional rules active in SRP borks the Windows Defender Security Center. I went into SRP additional rules and changed all restricted rules to unrestricted, re-booted and now Defender behaves as expected.

MS Edge is definitely getting better and better. Really liking the more modern look/feel in this build and they could even go further. Also they are finally fixing the address bar url text selection which was a massive bug for many hundreds of builds in a row!!! Positive and very good happy build for me. Keep improving Edge guys, this is great.

Yes saw that this morning and it would not allow any changes. Re booted and all was ok. Possibly an update did not get installed, just guessing. Was in hibernate all night and the reboot cleared it.

I can't even count how many times I've fixed that simply by disabling Defender completely and reboot. After that, clicking Retry will continue as if nothing had happened. At least for me it has resolved most of upgrade download issues.
Running upgrade in SafeBoot Mode and Defender disabled. Currently stuck at 54% Installing.. HDD working like crazy. :)

Yes and thanks for posting that. I didn't see Defender Center on my Taskbar. Went through Settings app to get there. Went into that Virus and protection section and turned some things on that were off. A few times the Center closed out. I rebooted and all is fine now.

Nope, no go for me on upgrading on physical machine. Will now make a full cleanup and system check, then making a clean reboot with Defender offline and nVidia Display adapter disabled(that thing always cause me problems). If this won't work then I clean install.

I DO think my VisualStudio Beta installation is a bit suspicious though...so it could be it.

Agree, but there is another bug in last two versions. Can't type @ in Edge.. Have to open app (notepad) and copy it from there. Anybody else?? Is this non-us-en typing only?
