I cannot get it to even find updates from 16241 and that was a total clean install and nothing else!

Will have to try VM method :-(.
The latest unreleased builds are known to have some Update issues, thus MS skipped a lot of builds, because one could not update properly. Think the problem is still there in one form or another.

Found some kind of a fix. I'll post them here in case someone needs help. I still can't update via ISO for now, but I'm not forced to restart anymore.

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
    Sfc /Scannow
    And restart

Speaking of DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth, it didn't work like that for many builds but works now.

Try switching to slow ring, delete SoftwareDistribution folder, restart, check for updates. Maybe it will fix itself when he sees there aren't any updates for slow ring.
Then you might be able to update using the ISO.

I never lost a single byte from any PC or phone since first beta of W10 including every single insider build. Properly maintained PC or any device will not loose anything no matter which OS.
Same here, Count. Besides, as Beta Testers, we shouldn't have anything on our computers we don't want to lose. We've already agreed to Microsoft's Terms and Conditions.

Remember when writable CDs came out ? We thought we were finished with HDDs for storage because HDDs at that time could store about 10 -20GB and CDs could store much more and were many times cheaper although a SCSI writer was expensive.
    20 MB I think?

Yes and indeed it does work on this skip-ahead build.

SFC found errors and corrected them too. Now to read the mile-long CBS log.
