I was an Amiga fanboy and I had so many floppies, that I could not fit them anywhere. A couple of thousand floppies, maybe 10k. Pretty much whole Amiga history. HAHAH!

EDIT: Now I have all that history backed up. 62GB of data, highly compressed.
There's no excuse for not making backups any more, I'd say that it's essential even !! One Windows ISO is about 0.001% of my storage capacities.

You are right! But I have installed Visual Studio, which increase the system image backup size by about 100GB. If I take a few of those backups, I have no room for any other data. I have time to reinstall if it comes to that. Besides, backing up Beta software is not that important to me. I have a backup of 1 stable system, that is enough. :) My data I backup every day.

It's doesn't matter where the files are as long as you copy and paste the exact location to the UUPtoISO utility.
    Exactly.

Unrelated to you trying to make an ISO, that folder, along with all of Windows.old, and that ~$BT folder and other stuff, will be there until you run Disk Cleanup. Just an FYI.
I've seen and experienced it by myself that occasionally you cannot make ISO anymore from Windows.old. Don't ask why, I test it with every build and two or three times since December and start of UUP, ISO made before upgrade has been successful but failed afterwards from Windows.old.

That's the base of my warnings in tutorial.

it should have made a separate folder in your drive and a desktop icon. When you click on desktop icon it opens program and its ready for your input
Installer does not make any folder when downloaded which Meebers seems to not be able to do. Only when installer is run is the folder created.

@doriandiaconu Any progress on your installation issue?

EDIT: I think you are having the same issue as I had when upgrading to 16241.1001 from 15063.483. I could not get my system upgraded from WU nor using ISO. I never figured out what was wrong so I clean installed everything.
No sadly I couldn't do anything yet. I tried using the Update troubleshooter and did nothing. I tried updating from ISO, but when booting it says that an update it's in due and I can only clean install from it. I was thinking if I can stop and delete the updates and redownload them.

I got no Windows.old folder in the Windows partition as well.

Go to Services and completely disable the following service:
    Windows Update

Then also make sure you have stopped the same service.

    Then navigate to:
    C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Downloads\

    Delete everything in that folder.

    Reboot computer.

The current update in progress will fail, but that is OK.

    Now you have 2 options:

A: Re-enable Windows Update service and go to the Windows Update tab in Settings, and reapply the upgrade.
    B: Upgrade using your ISO

If you chose option A and it fails, try option B but remember to do the disable service and delete content in Downloads folder, reboot, before using ISO.

Always before I let Windows Update start downloading Windows Upgrades I first reboot my computer. This is because sometimes there are corruptions in memory caused by FastBoot or other unknown reasons.

After the reboot, I ONLY go to Windows Update and start downloading the upgrade files. I also open up the Task Manager and the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Downloads\{GUID FOLDER} so I can keep track of the downloads processes.

Once I see the Restart/Reboot button on Windows Update tab, I open up WinRAR with elevated privileges. Then I take a Zipped backup of {GUID FOLDER} to a safe place (NO I DON'T make the ISO at this stage). Once that is done, I close all open Windows and finally hit Restart/Reboot. Then the upgrade process begins.

This has only failed for me a few times, but no matter what methods I have tried when I have gotten a failure, I can't get Windows upgraded, so only option has been to clean install everything.

For those who want to be an Insider and like to use a lot of what I call "Crap Ware", I recommend running IPs in a VM and keep the already working system clean.

My definition of "Crap Ware": Applications that are not programmed in recommended Windows programming guidelines, or in some way make customization changes to the Windows System that is not part of the original Windows design. One of these applications is CCleaner. It is dangerous if you don't know what you are doing when it recommends to clean the registry. It is easy to break everything in Windows using that tool. :)

Many free AVs I also call "Crap Ware"

Crapware is...... well.... crap by definition and should be used accordingly.
