yeah, 40 mb drives were able to keep a lot back then but there were tape drives for backups. At one time i used a vhs player/recorder to store backups. Having to go thru dozens of floppys was a pain.

Yes, I recommend you have an ISO available with at least 16251.0. You can always slip stream all the revision updates (cumulative updates) into that image. I think we have a guide here somewhere on that.

It's OK, I still have ISOs of every build including official ones.

Remember when writable CDs came out ? We thought we were finished with HDDs for storage because HDDs at that time could store about 10 -20GB and CDs could store much more and were many times cheaper although a SCSI writer was expensive.

I won't join the Skip Ahead. Those builds will be so unstable, that I rather keep RS3. I will exit Fast Ring on my physical machine when RS3 is done and setup a VM where I stick the finalized RS3. In the VM I will enter Fast Ring again. Once RS4 builds are stable enough and we are close to release, I upgrade the OS on my physical machine.

Yep, I remember that. I also remember the release of DVDs and even BlueRay...some people had the same thought patterns back then. I don't even own a BlueRay drive, except in my PS3. :)

Yes I have backups of everything! But I am not interested in the really early stages of RS4 builds. MS break too many things in their code.

Only problem is that I can not take a full system backup of my current HDD, I don't have enough space anywhere. I need a BIG NAS or DAS which I can't afford atm.

First CD reader for PCs I had with my Atari 1040st, what a revolution it was back than !!! Play music and CDs with programs and e-mags started appearing in computer magazines. I added 2 MFM hard disks to it and was able to archive all my floppy disks on them.

I was an Amiga fanboy and I had so many floppies, that I could not fit them anywhere. A couple of thousand floppies, maybe 10k. Pretty much whole Amiga history. HAHAH!

EDIT: Now I have all that history backed up. 62GB of data, highly compressed.
