I get that sometimes - Major Nelson's broadcast on the Xbox wakes up Cortana sometimes

Just say "Hey Cortana, stop listening" and she stops..
Not an Insider on my phone, so I get what's seen below. When you stop "Hey Cortana" do you have to restart that feature?

BTW, to those commenting; Cortana has always opened apps as long as I can remember, but will not close them. Always wondered why not. It would be handy while driving hands free.

I must say that notifications has improved a lot in 16xxx-series vs 15xxx. They look great and work as expected.

Agree, Cortana has still a long way to go.

IMO a terrific feature since inception. I've been using it since I bought my Lumia 4-1/2 years ago. The lack of closing apps may be due to the background noise as talked about, although I have no problems that way. LOL I can imagine it > "Hey, Cortana" > "What can I help you with today?" > What happened to my Word file I was working on?!!" > She returns with search results "Word is an MS office program blah blah blah...." > "All that data of mine is gone?!!"

must admit I use Cortana on the Xbox mostly..
the Kinect mike and webcam do a splendid job of balancing the sound..

I have it on the PC, natch - but make most use of it's textual and drop-down capabilities
it's in-built in Win10 Mobile but I rarely use it there - I do sound-recording and filming with the phone, though
and there's a toolbox app that gives you all manner of possibilities - measures, compasses, etc, etc - there's loads of sensors built into the hardware of the 950

still get a kick from the "Hey Cortana - Xbox on.." thing..
what happens when you have all of them running Cortana at once, I wonder..
    - maybe they'd tell each other jokes, or something..

I have to admit something that makes the geek in me feeling good but in reality shows just how lonely I am....

I use Cortana a lot, talk to her and listen her to answer. She opens apps for me, creates reminders and calendar events, tells me about the weather and recent news and so on.

But: I've noticed that sometimes it can be up to four five days that the only "person" I've talked to and have heard talking to me is Cortana

Move to another country. German people are as conservative as Finns. It is easy to become lonely.

Gee, Kari. You need to get out more. At least go down to the café and have a coffee or something. :)

She is great for all that, but I wish she would close out when finished.

Have you thought more about the different titled UUP folders? Whatever the difference, at least the main thing is the EXT:ESD search in the Download folder works.
