I had to disconnect microphone because of TV running in the background. Every now and then, Cortana would pick something said on TV and reacted on it. Can't run the risk of somebody saying on TV, "Format hard disk"
That's weird. Cortana is not supposed to say something unless you said the magic word "Hey Cortana". I have both Alexa and Google Assistant always listening but never had any incident like that.

The Phone setting just gives me a grey box for a second and then flashes off. Do I have to start with setting up the phone first?

A picture set as the desktop, so yes, I guess you could call it a picture frame.

Great! But first we need to see a 10x HDD IO performance boost in WSL, and I think we also need support for block devices and some other minor upgrades. From what I've read, it will all eventually come to WSL, but currently it's not TOP priority, except for the IO performance which is HORRIBLE. Compilation takes forever because of this. :)
I don't think I/O is quite that bad but certainly not up to native or VM performance.

    Seriously, It's really horrible!

EDIT: Everything else in WSL is as fast as or even faster than on a native Ubuntu installation.

I get that sometimes - Major Nelson's broadcast on the Xbox wakes up Cortana sometimes

Just say "Hey Cortana, stop listening" and she stops..

Just installed using the ISO, everything went smooth, no slowdowns and shit. It took like 60-70 minutes on a old and slow hdd.
This is so much better if you find the UUP being really slow, like download iso, you don't even need to burn it on a stick, just mount it and run setup.

I still have issues with the Deezer app, anyone using it? The issue appeared with build 16241 and it's still there. I don't know if it's the windows or the app, but after playing or skipping two songs the app becomes unresponsive and that's it.

    MPC-HC still slow to open.

Too late now, I already made ISO and cleaned everything. What I do is to delete everything from C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\ just before download starts and all that's left is current build. I copy full address and put in UUP to ISO, once it's all finished and asks for restart, I press enter and it makes ISO. Only after copying ISO to a safe place (backup disk) I let it install. I also used to make a bootable USB with new ISO and it helped when few builds ago it didn't want to install new build normally.
Thanks for answering Kari's post anyway, Count. I take it you didn't catch the folder name then?

Good advice on the cleaning, for I have old empty folders in there. It must not get cleaned with advanced disk cleanup.

My update went well. I didn't time it because of the posting and ISO making that I did, but guessing it took the usual 1-1/4 hours or so.
