I'm not very fond of Edge but it makes a good "Spare" browser now when it's possible to import bookmarks from FF. At first the are scrambled but they can be moved around. It needs more work to be competitive with other top browsers. What I object most is lack of menu on top, all open previews on taskbar and limited number of addons. All those things that FF has.

Have you tried saving all your most used sites on the "Favourites Bar" to be seen at the top of the screen for instant access.
I have way, way too many faves saved to do that, Dencal! The folders reach all the way to the bottom of this 24" monitor and bleed over into the second monitor . . .

    OK, OK, so I'm exaggerating just a little bit . . .

I love Edge, have been using it as my default browser since long before Anniversary Update.

Having said that, here's something regarding favourites handling in Edge I don't like.

At some point you will most probably re-install Windows 10 and before starting the process, you will export favourites, then after re-install import them. Of course if no favourites has been added since last re-install, you can use old favourites file without exporting it again.

If they change, new ones being added or old ones removed and you export / import them every now and then, the favourites menu looks stupid, to be totally honest. Here's an example from my laptop now, original favourites exported to file in April, I can't remember why I had to export again only a few days later, then again exported in June before my last clean install. Now, after a clean install on Wednesday, if I import that file again, it looks nested like this:

Luckily, the file is just pure HTML which means that you can edit it. I have too many favourites saved to manually move them one by one on top of the folder hierarchy when imported, I'd rather edit the file. I recommend you use Code Writer (available in Windows Store) or any other code editor that both colour codes and marks start and end of statements clearly.

Take the warning at beginning of the file seriously, only edit a copy of original file instead of the original one; a missing accidentally deleted comma might make the file unusable:

If you know your way around HTML, you can edit the definition terms and lists (DT and DL tags) in file (copy, not original. Better safe than sorry!) to remove nesting which is clearly seen in file:

    Attachment 146077

I'm not saying you should do this every time you export favourites, I'm just saying that when the actual bookmarks you want to use are half a dozen folders down in hierarchy, you should at least think about if it would be a good idea to edit the list before importing it.

At least not before Q4, end of this year. It was clearly told that both bug bash as well as two webcasts last week were last ones before official release of version 1709.

That's what happened with mine, Kari, but it was such a mish mash that I opted to delete everything and re-import from Firefox. For me, it worked beautifully and took only a few minutes of my time, although I had some 35 or 40 folders.

I have to say that Edge is shaping up, but for me it's not quite ready yet.

I have few hundred so favorites bar is out of question. Even this 3 monitor couldn't start covering them, let alone find one I want.

The idea of Favourites bar is not to put all your favourites on it. At least I use it for fast access to few sites I use most frequently.

It is readier than it was, but the final coat of lipstick needs to be applied before it is ready for the dance.

Ones I don't need or use frequently I keep in separate folder. Other folders have thematically placed bookmarks. Faw bar doesn't show full address just part and it gets smaller with many of them. One of the reasons I have so many is that I bookmark several pages of same site so I don't have to navigate too much. They are placed in a folder with site's general name or default page.

What I have done, until I can think of something better, is to make a descriptive folder and fill it with the links you want in there for that folder. You can get a lot of links that way on the favorites bar i.e Mail folder is all my web link email. Just tap the folder and all the links roll out.
