This subject is not difficult at all to discuss without bringing politics into it. Kaspersky has been suspected of this for many years before the last Presidential election. Current politics has nothing to do with Kaspersky's relationship, whatever that may be, with the Russian Government.
Suspicions are one thing, but they are being investigated by the US congress right now. And numerous US intelligence agencies all agree the US election was interfered with by Russia.

Kaspersky is an international company, if you suspect it the answer is clear-Just don't use it.

It is a Russian multinational company headquartered in Moscow, Russia. I don't use it. I use WD and MBAM and they work great. People should though I think be aware of current events and issues etc.

I have received free license few time when signing a contract with internet provider but used it only once and uninstalled it because it was too "heavy" for my computer I had than. It's one of too demanding AVs.
