Windows 10: What to expect on July 29

I'm still hoping the Insiders get ours on the 29th. I suspect (along with many other folks), that it won't be anything as exciting as a new build - just some update that makes our installations "final" (whatever that means any more.) At this point, nothing would surprise me!

Mike, they could be disguised as security updates. :)

Which brings up another question . . . or three . . .

There are at least three groups of us:

1. Dual Boot Systems: Windows 10 on one partition and Windows 7 or 8.1 on another.
2. Single Boot Systems: Windows 7 or 8.1 still intact.
3. Single Boot Systems: Windows 7 or 8.1 "upgraded" to Windows 10 Preview.
And <drumroll please> A variation of these groups who will or will not stay an Insider (which isn't important for my questions).

I'm in the first group with a Windows 8.1 partition and a Windows 10 partition (that has never seen Windows 7 or 8.1). Will I get an email or will I get a popup? I think probably a popup.

Lappy 17 and this desktop have both been upgraded from 8.1 Core to 8.1 Pro and have their copies of Windows 10 reserved.

I've been getting updates on the Windows 10 partitions very regularly along with everyone else. What I'd like to know is if my Windows 10 Preview will be updated to final along with my Windows 8.1 partition? Yeah, one at a time and on Tuesday afternoon, I'm going to boot into Windows 8.1 and leave it running "just in case"!

Anyhoo, how is Microsoft going to handle these different installations? Inquiring minds would like to know, but may never . . .

Hope they give some warning of a type: "We are ready to download files for upgrade, Y/N/Later ?" so it doesn't catch people unaware and can plan download and installation at their leisure like overnight etc.

What I got out of the movie (post #28) after you see "your upgrade is ready to install" two options: "Schedule for Later" & "Start the upgrade now"

I am in group 1a: I dual boot Windows 7 with a reservation put in, and Window 10 upgraded from an entrirely different Windows 8.1 retail licensed installation. Now, my Win7 is Home Premium, which means it will upgrade to Win10 Home. My Win10 was upgraded to from a Win8.1 Pro system, so the upgrade I get there is Pro. So my question is, can I take the Pro Upgrade, make an ISO of it for future use that will be a good final Win10 Pro licence, but still stay in the IP for at least a while. Or do I have to drop out? Because I do want an 'official' final version of Pro, independent of the IP.

I've enjoyed the IP, but I've got work to do, and it sure can be a time sink, as I'm sure we all know

There are infinitely more possibilities including virtual machines on various OS platforms, and bare metal, VHD booters, Mac Bootcampers, Multiple Windows 10 installations, those that have upgraded from their OEM or retail Windows already and those that have (unwittingly) converted their retail Windows 10 previews to volume licensed KMS activated ones. And there are no doubt some which are disconnected from the internet. Then there are tablet and mobile users too.
