Hahah, you are correct. US mobile operator rules makes absolutely no sense to me. Where I come from all is free and unlocked. I can switch to whatever I want, whenever I want. This meaning that I can purchase a mobile from one operator and use a competing operators mobile subscription.
US mobile operator rules make no sense to anybody, unless you understand the US motto "One Nation Under the Almighty Dollar"

New laws here about 4 years ago changed all that. Unlocked phones. Suddenly prices went down and now they kiss our arses with good costumer service to compete.

Well, seems like a lot has gone on since I made my switch. I sold my intel computer, and built a Ryzen 7 system instead. So I am just catching up and downloading this build right now.
My new system is Ryzen 7 1800x, Asus ROG Crosshair VI Hero mobo, 32gb's of GSkill FlareX 3200mhz DDR4 overclocked to 3472mhz, Zotac 1080ti Amp Extreme gpu, NZXT Kraken X62 AIO liquid cpu cooler, Samsung 960 EVO m.2 NVMe 1TB SSD, 850 EVO 512GB m.2 SSD, Samsung 840 1TB SSD, Crucial MX100 500GB SSD and WD Blue 8TB HDD. I use my 55" 4K tv as my monitor, with Logitech wireless trackball and keyboard. I spent all weekend building it, and now trying to finish up loading all apps and programs. At the very least, my WU problems are gone, as this is updating all by itself. First time in a long time I will not have to load from an iso.

Well I've been living overseas in the islands for the last 16 years, and having to deal with laptops. Although I've had some very nice laptops, they are still nowhere nearly as powerful as the desktops as ya know. So coming back here to the States has allowed me to renew my old hobby of building nice desktop computers. It was kind of like tinkering with a car when I was younger. And I do a lot of photography stuff with videos rendering as well. Lastly one of the biggest reasons to have such a powerful computer also is because I use X-Plane 11. I'm a pilot, but can't afford to go do whatever I like all the time, so X-Plane 11 flight sim allows me to fly and train at home, saving thousands of dollars. If I want to upgrade a skill, like multi-engine or IFR, I can train on it in the sim for free, and then when I do it for real, it takes less time; CHEAPER! But it's a serious resource hog if you want it to look realistic at all. And I like mine to look exactly like the real thing.
But that said, after I updated to 16241, signed on and had the ominous black screen!!! Yikes! I can't believe those are still happening. Anyway, I tried to reload explorer, nothing. Tried to boot into safe mode, nothing. So I just reverted back to the last build. All this power, and M$ still has the ability to render it useless... Lol.
