Hahaha, ok! Well FB is another hazard, no matter what OS, browser or app you are using. While multitasking on FB I can easily crash any of my computers/mobiles. It's not the computers, not the OS fault...all is because of FB. Thus I try to keep surfing there at a minimum.

Per MS that is easy to do. My wife still uses Vista and I cannot even update Firefox on it.
Per me it's not that easy. My brother uses it mostly but so do I when I need a portable computer larger than my phone. Nice weather, 6AM, balcony and first morning coffee. I check mail and messages including FB, look up the news etc., you know, morning routine. There's no proper AV on it either, it would slow it down considerably. I check it out periodically and very little to none of malware is ever found. It all comes down to careful usage, no AV would ever stop everything. It's not like a computer would magically get infected just by connecting to internet. Most of the time user error is required.

My brother in law went 5 years without using any Virus protection.. I went there and ran a bunch of scans with various Av's and MBAM and found nothing. I suppose if you surf wisely and stay out of Porn sites you could do it.

I remember there was a time when installing XP and the computer was connected to internet, it would get infected straight away, even before the setup was completed.

Now I just can't remember the name of the malware...

I just brought my son-in-law's Vista machine into the 21st century with Windows 10. He used Chrome, and it got to the point that it wouldn't update, and the old versions were very slow and probably dangerous, but he only surfed groups on Facebook, so he was rather safe. :)

It's now sitting in a closet, as a backup machine. Daughter's Lappy just went from Windows 7 to Windows 10 with almost no effort.

I was no infected but I was probed within seconds of setting up an Internet connection several years. I was pretty astonished.

Some parts are already there and don't need to be downloaded again. It would be enough to MS releases ISO at same time, no need to switch to ESD type update.

Precisely. They could just put up the ISO in a timely manner. But then again they do need to test the upgrade process going forward. My guess is that the driver is not technology but the bean counters.
