I agree TC, I'm only running one PC at the moment so stay on Release Preview Ring. However I still subscribe to the Fast Ring threads so I can keep on top of what's happening :)
Then you know we sometimes don't know what's happening.:)Seriously though if you are on the Release Ring you are missing several months of fun

Possible explanation, I don't know his setup, he could be on Release Preview Ring. That is technically Insider. My Release Preview Ring shows just that.
Attachment 144399
same here on the lappy - I opted for the Creator's Update..
the insider program has been delivering updates all along..
- no problem..
-
- basically it's still brilliant!!

Exactly! And YES I DO also test the latest insider builds, but the 16000 series builds has nothing new that I can test out on my hardware. No point dedicating a whole computer for something that does not bring any or just minimal new useful features I can test.

That's very general. What special kind of networking task do you do with Linux?
Slow network is usually hardware related.
Saved by the flag! This is the point where I usually turn to sarcasm, hidden insults and arguing to fight stupid comments but as with each fellow Finn here who remind me of the beloved and greatly missed home, the threshold to turn unpolitte is with you somewhat higher.
Therefore, based on the above I just politely thank you for counting me in to that 95% who "heheh, just surf the web and transfer a few files every now and then".
Really, thank you!
Kari
My comment was not intended as an insult. Sorry if I hurt your feelings.
HERE is one paper that describes exactly what I am talking about.
The numbers in this paper describes exactly how I have experienced networking on Linux vs Windows ever since NT3.5 got released. Nothing much has changed. Latest Windows Server 2016 IP claims however that it has improved networking performance. However, I have not found any proof to back this up yet.

I strongly disagree. It's quite the opposite to what you've said. Windows just makes things happen. With Linux it makes it unnecessarily longer and if you know the command line in Linux you get more things done but its not for the inexperienced computer user. My parents would be lost on Linux, but they know how to get around Windows and my Dad is 90! Yes I do use Linux and have been since I first tried Slackware 3.2 which was included on a
book disc.
I am certain your 90 years old dad would get around in Ubuntu as well. Basic desktop usage on both operating systems is easy. There even exist UIs for Linux that looks and feels exactly as Windows. That Linux is difficult to use is more of a taboo than a fact. I am also certain your dad would also be lost in Windows Powershell. We can't be comparing a Linux BASH prompt with a Windows Desktop. Those two are 2 entirely different environments, just like PowerShell and Windows desktop are 2 completely different environments.

I'm just trying out locally developed ChaletOS DistroWatch.com: ChaletOS That looks and feels almost exactly as W7. Has a lot of shortcomings in details but used by somebody that used W7 for basic functions it wouldn't seem strange at all.

Update:
#WindowsInsiders we don't love the quality of our Canary build for even selfhost, so we're not releasing a build today

Sounds serious. Might not have a build this week.
