An X on transparent background placed right from icon, vertically middle of it means volume is muted:



A smaller X on red background placed right from icon, vertically lower than in above screenshot means no audio device found or audio service is not running. Example of that was shown in this screenshot in post you quoted:



These two have nothing to do with each other. Apples and oranges.

I'll bet it does. I see no need for the seconds to be shown in everyday life. But, I'm sure someone will think of one.

No Kari i always use an upper case W for my Wife, we have three great kids and she's put up with me for 45 years. She even used to buy me a bottle of single malt every week until I decided not to drink so much of it. Surely that deserves an upper case W :)
