One can say it is trivial, but remember MS purport to be a global company and then use a (predominantly) US term. It just sends the wrong message ie we do not care about anybody but US.
In the first ever Windows Insider Webcast, which started a few hours after mignight my time (as far as I can remember at 5 or 6 PM Redmond time), I mentioned to Jason from Insider team in chat that they should remember that there are most probably more Insiders outside the USA than in USA.

He asked if I mean that they should occasionally have these webcasts in more suitable hours for Insiders in other countries and continents, too.

The next webcast was then already AM hours Redmond time, early evening in UK and Europe. Next week they have two bug bashing webcasts, one early in the morning Redmond time, one mid afternoon.

I am not saying that my words had any effect, I am just saying that sometimes it's really small things, single feedback that might change the way they do things.

What is wrong with just calling it RS3?
Nothing, as far as I am concerned.

Because when what we're testing (Fall/Autumn Creators Update) is released to the general public RS3 won't be sufficient as a name. Purely a guess, but I expect I'm right. :) Redstone is the working title and isn't something Microsoft will use as a final title.

Should just advertise it as 1709. That is pretty universal. Except the Americans who like to use MDY.

Redstone is a part of the Minecraft stuff MS bought Sept.15th, 2014.....(coincidentally Insiders start Oct. 1, 2014).

    Connection? Coincidence?

Nope! I'll read it as Anniversary Update just like I read CU as cumulative update, rather than Creative Update. Once something gets set in my head, it's hard to get it out.

It will be called U.U. Ummm.. Universal Update. That should keep everyone happy be they North or South of the equator and for those living on the Equator line.

    There - everyone's happy.
