You need to take ownership of the EXE file (wmplayer.exe) in order to delete it. Right now it can't just be deleted as you don't "own" it. Once you own it or give the ownership of the file to someone you can use (I used "everyone") the file can be deleted. Then go to "Program Files" and copy the wmplayer.exe from there and put it in the X86. This should make WNP play ALL files you wish it to without the "class not registered" error.
Let me know.
Got my 2 test machines through the process this morning, after an out-of-town visit to my poor Dad who's recovering from a severe stroke. The Dell Venue Pro 7139 came up without a hitch, but the Fatal1ty Z97 desktop required two tries to attain a complete install. Pretty clean and straightforward otherwise.

Yeah, once you make that change it seems WMP behaves like it normally did. I am not sure if it makes video files work but I imagine it should as everything else is the same except the exe.

Check above, 24c posted a tutorial on taking ownership.

I have no idea what that means. *laughing*
I just hope the solution lets you play files on WMP like it does for me.
I went through the update and then later did a clean installation. In both instances I haven't been able to add an extension to Edge. I read the build notes and didn't see anything related to adding extensions to Edge not working. If it is in there I hope I didn't miss it. Has anyone tried to add an extension to Edge and get it to work? When I try it just blinks and returns to the add screen.
@CopperCliff,
Success! Thank you very much for the WMP.exe tip!!!
