It changes build to build. Search of EXT:ESD always gets the right one.

Nice and smooth! 1 hour from Check for Updates to Restart. 20 minutes to Configure, Update and get to Desktop!
None of those scary "might happens" in the release notes. Did not roll back, and Taskmanager did not hang. Smooth!

Remember to get rid of the Hiberfil.sys and disable Superfetch if that pertains to you.....SSD users.

Powercfg /h off for hiberfil.sys (also will disable Fast Startup). Services and disable for Superfetch.
Yes! Nice build, so far! I know what you mean about powercfg...the builds have reverted to a much earlier process wherein the current hibernation settings aren't brought forward and hibernation is now enabled by default even if turned off in the upgraded build. Odd, that. Thought maybe it was just a one-off in the last build--not so, apparently. Yes, I always disable Superfetch as a service and in the registry each build--cannot imagine why Microsoft doesn't support SSDs in that regard. Here are the registry settings I apply with each new build:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters

Change EnablePreFetcher and EnableSuperFetch from 3 (default) to 0, and then of course turn off the Superfetch service itself. I noticed that simply turning off the service does not change the registry values. If the service is disabled those values in the registry may be ignored, but I go ahead and turn those off, too, out of habit.

Best thing I noticed in this build so far is that the D3d backwards compatibility that had been missing has now been restored, and old D3d Win32 games (like M&M 6,7,8 & 9, for instance) that previously wouldn't run at all or only in a window since 10563 are now functioning fine once again! Good job Microsoft...! Very glad to see this fixed at last.

I also notice that "game mode" no longer has an on-off setting in my machine, instead, beside "Game Mode" I see the message "This PC supports Game Mode" which leads me to believe (guessing) that Microsoft has turned Game Mode off by default in the OS, and that it is something only needed with an xBox (as was surmised from the start by many)--and I note there are several xBox-specific settings now, too. So that's good news, I think. I don't own/want an xBox, so this is good news all around.

So, back to playing & testing...! Build seems much nicer than those since 10563.

Sorry for the multi quote. Got up late and catching up here.

Sheesh. Seven hours to the desktop.
Wow, Keith. Is that in your VM?

Problem is getting an ISO with the right language and bittednes. Is that even a word?
I think it's spelled bittedness. Not sure.

Yeah, I've heard about this option to make an ISO, I think I read about it somewhere. Anyway, can't make an ISO before I have the UUP files, must wait!
    Link, please.

And it succeeded here too, Marty. Without a hitch, I might add. Except my ° still won't work with Alt 248 or 1076. I think I need to check out the insertable signs just to see if any of them work with the desktop shortcut.
    Wyn, it's 0176, not 1076. 1076 = 4. 248 is correct.

Alt keys are working for me in this build. :)

What is more fun that playing with Insider builds? - oppps - on the advice of Kari's lawyer I won't anser this.

Just for reference for those having some difficulty getting the update.

I never had issue updating from 16199 - 16215 - 16226 & 16232 (finished the updates in about an hour) probably because my installation isn't polluted too much with 3rd party apps. I only have MiniTool Partition Wizard, Macrium Reflect, Google Chrome and a few other light apps like Audacity, Kari's ISO maker and Djeuced 40 music app installed on my PC.
I am using the Insider OS mainly to see what's new and how it behaves every update. If I want to test and install something, I make sure I have an image backup in case I break anything.
So, if any of you are having problems with the upgrade, don't blame your hardware or internet connection. Check to see if any of your installed program may be causing a problem. But if you have a fairly clean system like mine and still having issues, then maybe you can start looking at hardware/driver problems.
Great advice, badrobot. I see you are consistent with build installs. Same here with one hour time. I did have one hiccup with 199 where it errored on first attempt, but on second try it took.

Yes, it is! Edge is working for me in this one. A few minor issues, but all seems to be fine here for the most part. Someone mentioned some Store app tiles are titled with glibly gook, but upon opening they are corrected.

Get keyboard problems again in Edge. All of the sudden letters get mixed up. And some symbols don't work...

Just noticed that typing my last post towards the end (which was long). Letters got jumbled with no sense. I just waited for the auto save, pressed cancel, pressed the restore button, and finished it with no problem. Not sure if it's forum software or not. Short posts, no problem. Never have a problem elsewhere anyway.

Maybe I just talk too much.

Same here. Just switched back to FF. Will send MS feedback. It happens after cca 10 lines of text.

Hopefully on the second attempt it will install, "Working on updates 54%". The last build, 16226 was unstable, the Edge didn't work too well, kept dropping out so I abandoned it after a repair reinstall did not help.
