Thanks to Waltc for posting the .NET fix: booting into safe mode did the trick for me on my balky Dell Venue Pro 7139. I found the following additional information quite useful to make that change, though:
    1. Use Winkey-R "Control Panel" to launch CP expeditiously, where you can access Programs and Features
    2. Use Winkey-R "msconfig.exe" to launch the System Configuration applet where you'll turn off safe boot and reboot to normal Win10

Added Bonus: This fixed my problem with Task Manager as well.
    Thanks again!

You are so very welcome, Ed! I felt the same way and profusely thanked the guy in another forum who suggested it to me... I cannot believe this did not occur to me. I must've spent two hours monkeying around with all kinds of exotic solutions that didn't work. Ha-ha...it's been so long since I've had to go into safe mode for anything that I never thought of it once, I guess. When I think about that, it really says a lot about the stability of the builds in the Insider's program for the past several months, imo--it's been excellent, overall! If only all solutions were this simple, eh?

Run chkdsk /f /r on the partition and make sure there is enough free space - not sure how EFI reacts but that's the way I fixed an MBR system.

Get an ISO and run the update from it.

Not knowing what you need, what language, country, architecture, home/pro, etc......can't help too much. Can you provide some info? Like fill in your specs? Or tell us what you are running now?

Has anybody actually seen Ubuntu in the Windows Store as this article seems to show. If it is there I should be able to find it in a 16215 or 16226 VM - but all I find are Ubuntu albums.

If you are interested in WSL you should follow Rich Turner on Twitter. He just stated hours ago that he's finishing latest details to enable the store Linux distributions.
