My system was up to date this morning. When I checked this evening, I found a new Windows Update message telling me that my system was "out of date and at risk," and that I should check for updates to get back on track. I've never seen a message like this until now. If this is a new WU procedure I'm fine with it, because it gives me a little control over the download schedule. Once I ran the update check, the download/install/restart process took half an hour or so with no problems.

I have problems with this update...

Specifically on my old laptop which uses ReadyBoost. The update installed OK, but following the restart the CPU is maxed out at pretty much 99% for hour after hour. Task manager shows 'Windows Installer Module Worker' as the culprit. Initially I tried rolling back to a recent image and letting the update run again. Same problem.

Disabling ReadyBoost before the update check occurs (using the same disk image as a constant in all this) and the update went smoothly with no problems.

I'm sad to say that for me, this is yet another very recent update debacle. Less than two weeks ago and we had MS releasing internal build/updates via the normal update channels. Admittedly it was pulled within a few hours and yet I was caught by that one to, annoyingly so as I was clean installing a friends PC at the time.

So todays update has taken 9 hours to 'resolve' and get to the bottom of the issues although the basic problem of the update seeming to have problems with ReadyBoost remain.

10 PCs here not one issue with the update...but I don't like all the RED lettering telling me I'm out of date!

It's new with this update, or more probably with the Service Stack update that accompanied it. Example here...

Strange, I got that same warning (which showed the red dot with exclamation mark in it) on one W10 lappy but not on our other W10 lappy. The updates all installed OK on both machines without problems.
