Announcing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16215 PC + 15222 Mobile Insider
-
Is it just me or...? - Version 16199 posed zero problems here. I always do 3 things immediately after updating to each version...after making sure the basic features work of course.
1. Mod 'services.msc' - Disable Superfetch & Search Indexer (useless in my case)
2. Take control of SearchUI.exe (part of Cortana), stop it in task manager and immediately delete it. No more Cortana. I personally don't care about talking to my 'PC' or have it talk to me. :)
3. Run the advanced built in 'Disk Cleanup' to dump all the leftovers.
Since I ONLY play games, perhaps I don't experience issues like others do.
215 won't install, so I will wait till the next release. No hurries here.
Timmy
Edit: On 2nd thought, I will try something. Install from an .ISO. Each failure that I had before, it never was this boot device issue, so I want to see whats what.

No guarantees of course - but I found that 15046 (an early prerelease candidate for 1703) was an easy & painless upgrade to 16215.
Same situation with trying to install 16215 over 16193 as over 16199. The experience was identical with install not progressing beyond the 30% point. Since 16199 installed over 16193 easily and 16215 won't, I think that proves the problem — or at least most of it — is with 16215.

I do hope they took down the Build 16215 offering . . .
Why?
- it's running beautifully here..
- so is Mobile build..

I agree with you 100%. I had NO problems loading or running 16199. Been using it on my "everyday" Computer.
The last three Insider Updates, including 215, did NOT load for me at all. It just seems to me, these latest releases are just thrown together MS junk. I too will patiently and hopefully wait for the next release. I had to change to SLOW as if FAST 215 keeps trying and trying to download. BTW, I also tried 215 using DVD (.iso) and it got to nearly finishing and then came green screen, cannot find Boot Device.

It would appear so then. I wonder what drivers, or other features are the stumbling block for your system?

@wen,
that code means failed to download.

Thank You !!

This is the first time I used DVD (.iso) Thanks Kari, in addition to "Insider Download" !!
I'll never use "Download" again for Insider Build. I'll wait for .iso file and burn DVD !!

Just in case you haven't looked at the Feedback on this issue....... This link will ask you to open in Feedback, it's suppose to. It's a shared link from Feedback. Just the way MS does it....
Upvote it while you're there.......

Been unable to get to my main comp running Insider for three weeks till yesterday. It had downloaded 215 and was waiting for the restart. After reading these posts I decided to sit this one out! Changed to Slow Lane and it didn't continue the update after restarting.
Good to see MS engineer response above.
