    Announcing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16215 PC + 15222 Mobile-failurenote.png
This was present on all 3 of my test computers after going back to 16199. None of the 3 failed to install the 16215 update -- all installed yesterday as soon as update became available. So, go figure. Seems like I saw a similar report from Tomcat. I am reinstalling the build on all 3 computers to see if it makes a difference.

Tried to install 16215 again, got as far as the first reboot at 30%, failed with INACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE. restarted, got the same GSOD, restarted again and it rolled back to 16199. That's the third time.
CHKDSK comes up clean, as does sfc /scannow. I used the Windows Update Troubleshooter which claimed to have fixed some problems, also ran Brink's reset Windows Update bat file. and manually deleted C:\$WINDOWS.~BT and all files in C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download
I haven't been making ISOs for some time, so tried to download UUPtoISOSetup.exe.
My AV (Vipre Advanced Security) flagged it as Trojan.GenericKD.5089713 and quarantined it.
Is Vipre being over zealous, or have the baddies got to that file?

    Edit:
shutdown Vipre, ensured Defender was running, downloaded UUPtoISOSetup.exe, scanned the file with Malwarebytes and Defender, both passed it.

Ok. So after checking the state of my hardware, I decided to go all in and clear out the ~BT folder as well as Windows\Software\Downloads. I then applied Brink's Windows Update Reset batch file and rebooted.

The machine started downloading 215 again, and I used the computer normally for a couple of hours. I then allowed it to restart and install the update.

Thus far, it has rebooted 3 times already, so looks like it is getting father along than before. Keeping my fingers crossed....

And as I was typing that, it gets to ”Working on updates: 33%” and seems frozen, AGAIN.

FML. If is really frozen, I am going to pop the .ISO in and upgrade that way.

If that doesn't work, I am clean installing over the weekend.

[QUOTE=Fafhrd;1047020]One thing I have noticed is that many of the Insider builds, including 16199 and 16215, have several default junctions (symbolic links) missing.

Tweaking.com restores missing default junctions (I count 31 here for 16215), and logs its actions:

Interesting. I use tweaking.com pro but haven't tried it yet. It did help a build or two before so maybe after this next reboot into 199 I have to say I like this real time testing.

AVs tend to view anything that meddles in system as at least suspicious. 3rd party AVs don't know what WD does and MS can also make updates so they don't upset WD but can't do that to 3rd party AVs. An update can include directions to WD not to react to particular part which can't be done to 3rd party AV.
