Unless you have a really fast pc and superfast SSD, you will barely be able to detect difference between SATA II and SATA III.

Such is the improvement in Memory handling, and the minimal design methodology of modern Windows.

I know, Fafhrd, but at the same time, we didn't know just how slow those systems were, since they were so much faster than their predecessors. :)

Hmmm, on second thought, could I maybe upgrade the RAM to something faster? Probably not . . . but if I could . . .

I hope not, Cereberus! The discussion, in my not so humble opinion, has degraded to "looking down" on someone who doesn't share my/your/their views on when the week starts. It is, in fact, irrelevant, since every week has seven days. And that's a fact, Jack!

I'll have to look to see how much RAM the dv9700 has. I did put an SSD drive in it when I thought the original HDD might be bad.

No Linux, Marty! I've thought many times that I'd like to try Linux, but haven't gotten there yet.

Agree. I have a Vista era hp laptop with 4Gb memory into which I placed two 512 Tb hard drives. It is the most reliable of my insider machines. It's a little slower than newer computers, but barely detectable.

I think you mean 512Gb

Well, you can, but it's not pretty. 16215 in a VM.
