I ended up using 'shrink volume' to peel 50GB off my main partition and doing a clean install on the new partition with the ISO. Got it installed in about 30 mins. Perhaps others should try that if a clean install on their main drive isn't an option.

I think I found a solution which resolves "The installation failed in the first boot phase..." and other issues that cause a failed upgrade. As I had made a Macrium Image before starting the upgrade process when upgrade was already downloaded and initialized, I have been able to replicate the failing upgrade and then fix it.
I want to be absolutely sure this works before posting the solution, I will replicate the failing upgrade scenario couple more times and if everything works post the solution. If it fails even once in my tests I'll post the words I use most often: "I was wrong" instead 
, but I really think this works.

Anybody else having a problem with Edge not working?
When starting Edge, it loads half way up and just sit there. Not even showing the favorites bar. Settings section works, but everything else is blanck

its full of bugs this build troubleshooter doesnt work and explorer error and mp3 error with window media player

Mine loads but typing in the address bar is hit or miss. I don't think it's a keyboard issue because it works well with chrome

Try resetting the defaults. In Settings / Apps select Default apps and scroll down. Reset it to MS default and see if helps.

no still same issue
and i cant play music or videos with media player as i get class not registered
is it just me with update issues
