I'm not talking about the rollout for the creators update, I'm already on it, I even recieved it on day one, i'm talking about this cumulative update. Are updates like this one pushed out the same way as a full-OS revision? If so then that doesn't make much sense to me because why on earth did they push me the CU on day one if it has issues with drivers, then to further block me?

Yes, I see. I've updated my reply with some thoughts on that.

    Ah, whops.

My Windows' are checking for updates automatically every day at noon-ish. No updates are available. It doesn't matter if I click manually either, nothing is found. This was exactly the same thing that happened last time until the proper cumulative update in May came out, that one I got. So clearly things are working correctly, but for whatever reason Microsoft doesn't want to me to get these updates that doesn't come out on patch tuesday. I double checked my connections and all the metered options are turned off. I even tested some laptops through ethernet aswell instead of wi-fi and nothing.

    No clue.

It may be a regional thing, I'm in the UK and can get the update with a manual check shortly after Brink (in the US) posts in the News forum that one is available. It may be that the server you are connecting to doesn't get the updates except on Patch Tuesdays. Something to report to Microsoft by the sounds of it.

This thread from 2012 may throw some light on the issues...

What a "cluster" this was for my machines. My lappy took about 45 minutes to complete and after I checked things out, it appeared normal. Then it got terribly slow. I did a re-boot and got the message that it was "Getting Windows ready" This lasted about 1.5 hours and then appeared normal again. (knock, knock)

On my desktop, got a message that it did not install so the 4th time was a charm and it finally completed. I dread updates anymore, some are slick and others are a PITA. By contrast, did a pretty big update yesterday on my W7 machine, click the updates you want, tell it to install, watch the progress of the download and install, do a restart. Smooth, no problem.

Have you tried a manual check?

If you're waiting for Creators, quite possibly possibly they do have something against your PC - or more specifically against certain hardware it contains that has known issues. Such PCs will be blocked from receiving the update until drivers have been updated to deal with these issues, for example...

If Microsoft is listening I'd like to request that you put the word "settings" on the medium "settings" tile in the start menu if it is not too much trouble. It is an important tile and it would be nice if like the other tiles it had the word near the bottom of the tile in addition to the symbol. The delayed almost alt-ish "setting" that pops up after a brief mouse cursor rest is nice but not really the same. Thank you for your consideration.

Ha! You just brought that to my attention! It's the only one that doesn't have a moniker!

Even though my PC automatically checks for updates, I'm finding that most are not delivered unless I manually check for updates every so often. Just got this update tonight (Sun 5.28.2017) after seeing this thread and manually checking for updates. The auto-check for updates 4 hours ago says that it didn't find any. Weird.

This is a great forum! Thanks Brink!
