Ahead of Computex, Acer announced new Windows 10 devices for gaming and productivity on-the-go with the new Nitro 5 notebook line for casual gamers and the lightweight Spin 1 for flexible computing and sleek design, all powered by Windows 10. Here’s a closer look at these devices:

Acer debuts all-new Nitro 5 notebook line with Windows 10 for casual gaming

First from the new Acer Nitro family, the Nitro 5 series with Windows 10 provides a balance of powerful features with a sharp and stylish design, as well as a variety of configurations that feature popular graphics and processors to provide a wide selection that meets different budgets and needs.

With Windows 10, these devices also have your personal digital assistant, Cortana*, built-in, are equipped with the Xbox app and Direct X12 and can take advantage of Xbox Play Anywhere.

You can choose from models featuring up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics with 7th Generation Intel Core processors or AMD Radeon RX550 graphics with 7th Generation AMD A-series processors. Dual fans with Acer Coolboost technology deliver heightened fan speeds and cooling ability, and allows you to manually control the cooling process when heavy use requires an added boost. Ideal for accelerating boot-up time and shortening in-game loading times, select models come equipped with super-fast PCIe SSDs (up to 512GB) paired with an optional HDD for storage (up to 2TB).

Features of the Nitro 5 series include:

  • Configurations featuring up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics paired with 7th Generation Intel Core i7 processors, or models with AMD Radeon RX550 graphics with 7th Generation AMD A-series processors. These models all support up to 32GB of DDR4 2400 MHz memory.
  • Dual fans with Acer Coolboost technology, which delivers heightened fan speeds and cooling ability
  • A vibrant 15.6-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS display, with Dolby Audio Premium and Acer TrueHarmony technology that provides incredible sound depth. These work in tandem to provide immersive experiences for gaming or watching movies.
  • A Gigabit Ethernet port delivers fast and reliable wired connections, while the 802.11ac 2×2 MIMO wireless technology provides blazing-fast wireless connectivity.
  • A comprehensive selection of ports includes one USB 3.1 Type-C (Gen 1) port, one USB 3.0 port with power-off charging, two USB 2.0 ports, and an HDMI 2.0 port, which can support up to 90 Hz refresh rates.

Pricing and Availability: The Acer Nitro 5 will be available in North America in July starting at $799; in EMEA in August with prices starting at €1,099; and in China in July starting at ¥5,499.

The 11.6-inch convertible Acer Spin 1 features a sleek metal chassis and vibrant Full HD display, built to be lightweight and portable for creatives on-the-go.

With Windows 10, the Spin 1 also arrives with Microsoft Edge for fast and secure browsing, your digital personal assistant Cortana,* comprehensive protection with Windows Defender and more. The Spin 1 is fully ready to work with the Acer Active Stylus accessory which enables precise and direct on-screen input, providing a natural pen-on-paper experience. You can quickly turn thoughts into action, capture ideas swiftly and naturally with Windows Ink, markup webpages in Microsoft Edge, draw in the Photos app or add notes to your maps.

Weighing in at just 1.25 kg (2.76 lbs), the 14 mm(0.55-inch)-thin chassis sports the latest Intel Pentium or Intel Celeron processors, 4 GB DDR3L memory as well as a choice of 32 / 64 / 128 GB eMMC storage. Its crisp 11.6-inch Full HD (1920×1080) touch-enabled screen with IPS technology displays vibrant colors at 178-degree viewing angles. Eight hours of battery life allow you to work, play, share, and draw all day with four versatile modes (laptop, display, tablet and tent).

Features of the Acer Spin 1 with Windows 10 include:

  • Fast and reliable wireless connectivity through 802.11ac 2×2 technology, the Spin 1 provides up to three times faster downloads compared to traditional 802.11n 2×2 devices.
  • Acer BluelightShield, which may help to reduce eye strain from prolonged screen viewing.
  • Speakers with Acer TrueHarmony technology are located on both sides of the device.
  • Audio channels that automatically reverse to ensure optimal sound quality in any mode, and are paired with a webcam for video chats.
  • Additional connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0, one USB 3.1 port, one USB 2.0 port, one HDMI port and one microSD (SDXC) card slot.

Pricing and Availability: The Acer Spin 1 will be available in North America in July with prices starting at $329; and in EMEA in July with prices starting at €399.
