Things have gotten much better stateside in the last couple of years--I'm on Comcast fiber at 105Mb/s down and up (we're on an EWAN) in my building--costs ~$30 a month. No caps.
Broadband 100 down, 20 up, IPTV with 144 channels (60 of them including all domestic channels HD), access to TV stored on DVR from any networked device within range of home network, flat rate landline phone calls (free calls to European land line numbers) with 5 VoIP numbers (use traditional phone or VoIP client on PC or mobile phone), no bandwidth limit, price €59 per month (£51 / $66 / AUD88). Download speeds always at least 90% of promised.

Provider: German Telecom, known abroad better as T-Home.

Sadly, they do not have decent mobile plans, I get my mobile from O2.

I have pretty much the same arrangement. A bit more of TV programs with 7 days backward on demand. Same price till two months ago when it jumps to 61.99 € (and 1 mobile included.. - much bigger plan than I need)

    Slovenian Telekom...

Yeah, I had so many games that either wouldn't run at all or would constantly freeze up that I had to roll back to the CU. The current insider build and the one before it were both terrible, gaming-wise, for me.
I've left Microsoft several Feedback notes on these issues--this is absolutely horrible in terms of a "Game Mode" that actually destroys backwards game compatibility. In pre-CU builds, Win10x64 was the most backwards-compatible gaming platform available--eclipsing both WIn7 and 8/.1 in that regard. They've made a hash of it, now. I have little confidence that the next build will fix it, though I am hopeful--I just can't understand why a new build takes something so fundamental to the OS that is working so well, and breaks it! All the while, one single one-line note about "games like Civ 6" is the only acknowledgement Microsoft makes! I don't know why it is, exactly, but Microsoft often seems a day late and a dollar short when it comes to gaming on a PC--and yet gaming is a primary driver of Windows sales, and it's Microsoft who works with AMD and nVidia to set the ever-evolving DirectX (D3d) standards, like DirectX12, 9.0c, etc. Microsoft has always been schizoid when it comes to PC gaming...

I'm missing backwards on-demand, it would cost me an extra €10 per month.

Mobile in the states is a huge rip-off, imo...;) They can see the suckers coming from miles away, apparently...;) Caps are like 5 GBs, believe it or not...and the basic rates for sheer connectivity to the wireless networks cost as much as my wired plan in toto (and then they begin piling on the surcharges--like if you breach the 5GB cap), and they are dog-slow comparatively. That's when you can even get and keep the signal, etc. Ugh. Much better off using my wired connection at home for the grunt work and carrying a "dumb-phone" around for mobile phone calls--mobile here is pretty good for *phone calls*...;) Lol...;) [I have to add the disclaimer that I am *not* a mobile fan--never have been, actually. So if my remarks seem jaundiced to some degree, that's why...!]

My wife loves the backwards on-demand stuff, too...;) For the entire package of hundreds of HD/NTSC TV channels I'll never watch, and unlimited landline phone & the broadband as I describe it above, the monthly charge is $60. Not too shabby. I remember when I was excited about 14.4k dial-up modems because I thought they were "fast"...!...;)

I can still remember how fantastic feeling it was when studying when I got a 2,400 baud modem and could connect to VAX / VMS minicomputer at university to do my Cobol and Fortran schoolwork from home. Had to stay home "sick" several times just to show my fellow students I was able to communicate with them "online" :)

My 300 baud "Atari Pocket Modem" was singing nice on Atari 400. Could even talk over same phone line at same time

Kari, I spent 30 years with Digital Equipment Corporation and still miss the VAX and VMS. I hear there are still a number of them around. Brings back fond memories.

I did my studies with it, learning to code with Cobol. Still missing those days :)
