Hope so, I'm still 20GB shy of my monthly internet limit and one more day to go. After I use limit up I get only 2/2Mbps down.

I always forget how lucky we are in UK when it comes to broadband. We were lucky inasmuch as the whole country was on a single network, and after privatisation, the deregulation rules meant any competent provider was permitted to be a service provider.

This has lead to fierce competition between the major providers, and since virtually everybody is now on broadband, the name of the game is now providing internet TV etc, so basically, all broadband services are very cheap and vast majority are unlimited. It is only for the absolute bottom end of market that may have limits but even these are rare.

I pay £10 per month for unlimited access but that was a special offer to stop me laving my ISP. £20 is a very typical going rate!

Only problem is the infrastructure is quite old and for many of us, it is only adsl2 access limited to about 10 Mbps down / 1 Mbps up. The main negative for domestic users is uploads are kept limited to maximise download speed.

Although I'm only 12 Km away from center I'm still limited to WiFi (unlimited but only 10/2 Mbps), even worse cable TV/internet and what I chose couple month ago, mobile 4G internet, limited to 100GB a month but at 40/12Mbps for about 12Euro). Just few clicks away there's decent optical cable available at over 100 Mbps. There are at least 50 providers of broadband internet around but none are interested in coming this way.
Right now there is a petition in parliament to make it a law that broadband internet is an essential service and companies will be required to extend service equally everywhere and eventually at minimum of 50/10 Mbps. The way our politicians work, I don't hope for any effects for at least next couple of years. I'm still managing with this 100GB but using satellite TV instead of IpTv I used before this one. With HD IpTv that would be gone in less than a week.
