Query: Does anyone who is running 16199 also have the recently released game Tides of Numenera by InXile? The game will not run on my system--Windows says it's not a Windows file--and so does Steam. My only thought is that this game must be "a game such as Civilization VI"...apparently--a known issue for 16199 in that "such games" (Whatever that means) won't run.
I exhausted myself yesterday in reinstalling Steam and my games, and in checking all of my partitions for errors, changing download servers, doing file validations, uninstalling and reinstalling the game, etc., from advice I received from Steam tech support. I couldn't at first see how it could be a local problem--thought the Steam installer was guilty of corrupting the game's files. All my other Steam games run fine--I even deleted and re-downloaded my ~50 GB game, Witcher 3, with all its DLC and the two expansions--it downloaded and ran fine, first try.
But today I decided as the last resort to prove whether it was a local issue for me or not, that I would fire up Steam on the Wife's computer and install the game and run it there. It downloaded and installed and ran perfectly, first time, game version 1.1.0, but the kicker is my wife is running 15063.296...! The commercially released CU, and she is not in the Insider's program by design!
So the way it looks the current post-15063 Win10x64 builds are not so hot at all for gaming support. But if you by some chance are running this game version 1.1.0 and 16199 , I'd like to know so that I can go back to square one... Oh, joy...!
