I think my way is safer - I don't have anything worth backing up, If I ever need a reload I just wipe the system and start again
I think you would not agree with the following:
'it can defeat new ransomware the moment it is released, proactively protecting you from ransomware that’s never even been seen before.'──quoted from Introducing the Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware Beta - Malwarebytes Labs | Malwarebytes Labs
I have the bitdefender ransomware package as part of the full commercial suite, (not free). If any unknown process attempts to do anything at all to any file in one of my protected areas, then the process is killed and the file is left untouched. So I would have to agree that proactive defence against even zero day exploits is possible, of course I would not expect this sort of protection in a free product. It does have a serious downside, I have all my system set as protected which is very safe, probably too safe. I will normally expect to have to run any new program installer several times to white list new processes that are accessing files during install, these include even the setup temp files. Overkill, maybe, but security is important to me and people I work with
If the result is it tries to download or install, anything then the email protection would block and notify. Security is a multilayer defense system, it starts with me of course, so that me layer would likely catch it before clicking anything
