Announcing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16193 PC and 15213 Mobile Insider

Everything went pretty smooth for me. Did a clean install and everything seems to be working as intended, now that it's settled in a bit.

Well, I have one game that doesn't run anymore, although it ran fine on the last build.

What Remains of Edith Finch throws up the following error:

This is the 3rd build in a row that has failed at 32% on my system. Reverts to previous build, goes through the process of downloading, preparing, etc, again, then installs successfully. A Defender update has been included each of the 3 times this has occurred. My primary AV is Vipre, I run periodic scanning with Defender.

I was able to activate windows 10 insider in vmware using an old used windows 8 key from 2012......

Don't know what your disk capacities are, magilla, but with 8/.1 and Windows 10, you can skip the entire burn-to-DVD step--just thought I'd throw that out there if by some chance you may not have known this. (Please pardon me if you are already familiar with this info...!)

Once you download the .iso or create the .iso in, let's say, your "C:\Win10 ISO" folder (my personal preference is for putting it on another partition/drive such as "D:\Win10 ISO" rather than on your C:\ partition), you simply right-click on the build's .iso file and select the Mount command from the drop-down list, and Win8/.1 or Win10 will mount the .iso file automatically on its own virtual "DVD" drive. Takes all of 2 seconds for the virtual drive to be created in the OS. Then you simply double-click to open the new virtual drive you just made using Mount, right from the Windows desktop exactly as if you're preparing to install from an actual DVD drive holding a physical Windows DVD. Run "setup" from the root directory of the virtual drive exactly like you would run it from your physical DVD drive, and then sit back and watch the new build install sans any physical DVD drive disk.

Advantage to doing it this way? It is much faster than using a much slower physical DVD disk drive every build install. Aside from your not having to either create a physical DVD drive disk by burning the iso file instead of simply mounting it (yes, I know that "mounting" sounds sort of risque' I suppose... ), the build install from the virtual DVD will function at the speed of your hard drive which is always going to be much faster than the speed of a physical DVD disk & drive. And whether you do an upgrade install or a clean install is not relevant as the install will go much quicker from the virtual iso image mounted on a hard-drive partition. You can get really faster still if you install the build from a virtual DVD drive mounted on an SSD partition. And you still have your copy of the iso in the directory from which you installed, (I keep build iso files on two separate partitions other than c:\ simply to have a backup of the .iso's, etc.) When Win 8./1 shipped with this feature integrated into the OS I quickly became a huge fan of this function integration into Windows because it is simply so useful--especially useful to insiders installing from iso images. Before that I was using a third-party public domain program to mount and run iso from a virtual DVD drive--Daemon Tools, or something like that--can't really recall while sitting here. But Microsoft's integration into Windows of this feature made "Daemon Tools" (pardon me if I butchered the name!) look like the utter kludge it always was...
